Why would a girl be turned off by me suggesting she add me on Facebook?

I met a girl at church recently and had a good conversation with her - maybe 15 minutes or so. We laughed a little bit and I thought we had a lot in common. As I left I suggested she add me on Facebook (I'm only in town for a few days on business and it didn't make sense to me to ask her out). She seemed turned off by that and even seemed to avoid me when I saw her a little later.

Any ideas why a girl would respond that way?

Some people give off a creepy vibe. And sometimes people get creeped out easily.

Maybe a little of both?

It seems like facebook etiquette has changed a bit over the years. Maybe its because I'm out of college. In college, you add everyone you meet. It seems like now, you only add people you know really well. I think its creepy because everyone knows that you will be combing through their personal life going years back. Then you have access to all their posts and locations and what bars they currently at etc. Its just too much if your trying to date someone new. I got a weird look once when I offered to add a girl on FB after just meeting her.

I dont think FB is the reason, I just think OP went too fast too soon and maybe she didnt like him per se..

DOnt break your head on gals who dont like you OP...There are many who will :)

It "didn't make sense" to ask her out. But you asked her to befriend you on FB. Creepy. You'd have a much better idea where you stand if you'd MADE the time and tried asking her out!

She could have been disappointed that you asked for Facebook instead of her number. Don't feel bad that she didn't add you to FB. She just met you and FB is inviting people into your personal life right off the bat. I think you should have asked for her number instead.
