I have ultimately decided to hyphenate because when I had two last names (unhyphenated), I experienced the pain of having the first one interpreted as my middle name. However, it's looking like the father and I might not even be on speaking terms by the time the child is born, so it may not matter at all. If it comes to that, she's getting my last name and nothing more. I just saw this post and I am sorry to hear, AB. 1
