cabbagehead Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hey guys, I'm new here but I just figured this would be a good place to ask advice about a situation I am currently in. Last Tuesday, I was flying back home to New York from Chicago where I was visiting a friend. To my delight, I was seated next to a cute blonde English girl on the plane. I wanted to make something of the opportunity, so I thought a good way to initiate conversation was to offer her a piece of gum before take off and start a conversation from there. So that is what I did, and it worked out much better than I expected. She was super, super nice, and very outgoing, and the conversation flowed well for the duration of the two hour flight. Before we both knew it, it was time to land. After landing, while taxiing to the gate, she was fiddling with her phone and seemingly waiting for me to ask her out. So while taxiing, I asked her if she wanted to take my number so she could contact me in case she wanted to get together soon in NYC. (Where she is now living) She insisted that I took her info instead, which I thought was a good thing, and gave me her name and number. I am normally not optimistic at all in situations like these, but I felt like she was genuinely interested and was such a nice person that she would at the very least have the courtesy to respond to a text or call. I waited about a day before texting her, and its been about 25 hours since and have received no response. I was planning on calling her tonight for one last effort. Does anyone have any advice on how else to proceed or what the problem could be? Was really not expecting this at all based on the vibe I was getting. Thanks.
ZX4 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 First off: The only reason why any person (Male or female) Insists on giving you their info, rather than just mutually exchanging numbers, is to play a mental dating game. If any rational person gets on a plane and meets someone that they find sexually, and mentally attractive, the last thing they would want is to not be able to contact them. That leads me to believe one or two things: 1) She isnt a rational person. or 2) She's not that into you. I think you should give her a call, leave a nice message, then forget about it (If she doesnt answer). If she wants you, she'll cal you. If not, she wasn't worth the headache to begin with, and probably isnt as into you as you are into her. (Or worse: she reads too much Cosmo mag for her own good, and is afraid of taking a man's number because she thinks it'll make her look desperate.) 1

If a girl can't be bothered to respond then you can't be bothered to care.
SantistaUSA Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 yeah just give her a call, sometimes text messages might not go through or she gave you a fictitious number. 1
jcrew11 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Did you identify your name in the text? IF she doesn't have your numer, then she wouldn't know the text was from you. I would just call and leave a voicemail. She might have a boyfriend or might work weird hours. Girls are flaky and its all a numbers game, and you have to put in the effort as the guy, even though you might get rejected. 1
