Mrfr Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 So I joined a dating forum for a bit of a confidence boost and got talking to a nice girl. She asked to meet up. Should I go? I'm not ready for anything more than friendship so don't want to lead her on or go on the rebound.
lukekarts Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Go, and see what happens. The social interaction can't hurt, especially if you've put 'looking for friendship' on your profile. You can make a later call if you think it could lead to something more or if you're not ready.
Author Mrfr Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Ok, I've said I'd go. Am very nervous.
lovesucks76 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Ok, I've said I'd go. Am very nervous. I would go, you have nothing to lose and yo cold possibly meet a new friend. Give it a try.
Author Mrfr Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 I love you guys! This forum has been a lifeline.
Still Searching Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 You're likely not ready to date at all, but I'm still going to say go for it. I'm in day 7 of NC out of a 15 month, intense relationship but have plans with a few girls. I don't intend to start a relationship, or casually sleep with them. They know my situation, and just enjoy my company. I feel bad, almost like I'm using them, but yes, they're a nice distraction, and being social certainly beats sitting at home, alone, in my own apartment with my thoughts. 1
Author Mrfr Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 I haven't told her my situation but if this date goes well I probably will. Also, I've hit some sort of anger stage so here comes a rant, feel free to ignore. AGGHHHHH. YOU SUPPORTED ME AND MADE ME FEEL GOOD ABOUT MYSELF, TAUGHT ME I WAS WORTH LOVE DESPITE BEING ILL AND THEN YOU UTTERLY DESTROYED ME. I HATE YOU!!!!! Sorry. Done.
Waynester Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Go..leave your expectations at home..not needed. Just relax & enjoy, realise during your meeting that the world 'is' a bigger place, & your earth does not revolve around the ex. Meeting new people is a great tonic. Have a giggle..& enjoy. Hope it goes well. 1
Author Mrfr Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Cheers, logically I know it doesn't, but for 3 years of being together it kinda did. Hard getting used to her not being about.
