King Bowls Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I'm a guy who many may know lift a lot (as seen on the health and physical improvement section on Loveshack ) my question is...do women in general find a muscular young 19 year old attractive who has larger muscles (I know it sounds like I'm bragging but I've worked so hard for it)
CarrieT Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Everyone is different. Of course you will find women that enjoy men with muscles. I'm not one of them, personally... 2
miss_jaclynrae Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 It isn't MY thing, but I am sure there are some chicks out there who can dig it.
MomsSpaghetti Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Some facts about muscles and attracting women: I've never heard a woman say she likes "muscley" or "buff" guys. Seems like they prefer a lean physique, like a skateboarder or Michael Phelps, but not like a bodybuilder. If you're short, then being buff will make you be viewed as "compensating."It's true in many cases that guys who workout obsessively are trying to improve as much as they can the one aspect of their looks that they have control over. Call that compensation if you want to.Older women value fit guys more than younger women do. I'm 24, a pretty obsessive recreational runner (15:27 5k), and the compliments I've got about how lean and fit I look have all come from older women. 99/100 times, the tall, handsome guy who doesn't workout will be more attractive to women than will the average-looking guy with a sculpted Zeus body that he obsessively works on. This usually pisses off the Zeus body guy. 3
Ryan R. Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Muscles are usually just a bonus for women. I've seen guys with incredibly average bodies get some really attractive girls just because they are fun to be around, masculine, and are reasonably attractive. Your face and your personality go much farther than your body in my opinion. Still, I feel if you have muscularity, it won't hurt. 1
Speakingofwhich Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 My recent exbf is a bit overweight but draws the women like flies. There's a guy in my neighborhood who has an amazing physique. Works out and must be on steroids. He mows his lawn w/o his shirt on a lot. Wish he'd put it back on. Don't like seeing half naked people in the neighborhood. 1
Avulare Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Depends on the woman... I spend most of my time outdoors for both work and leisure, so someone who looks like they spend all day inside a gym would turn me off. 1
carhill Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I'm a guy who many may know lift a lot (as seen on the health and physical improvement section on Loveshack ) my question is...do women in general find a muscular young 19 year old attractive who has larger muscles (I know it sounds like I'm bragging but I've worked so hard for it) When I was your age, such young guys invariably had girlfriends, so evidently they were attractive to women in general. With some, they were great guys who happened to be ripped; with others, meh... 1
thefooloftheyear Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 You can say this about anything in life.....at least they way I see it... Whatever you do, do it for yourself -NOT to attract women, make more friends or anything else.. I train hard and I am a big guy, but I dont do it to please anyone. I just like weight training and usually that means you are going to be big..While many women might not necessariy need for their SO to be big and ripped, I cant see any case where they would turn someone down over it, if all other aspects of compatibility were met.. You wouldnt want a woman that cared only about that either..There are plenty of shallow gym rat groupie women who are obsessed with big guys...If thats all they see in you, stay away..you wouldnt want one of those I dont care what she looks like.. Do it for yourself and dont worry about what others think.. TFY 1
Suave Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 No, they are obviously repulsed by them. Why ask questions that you already know the answers to? 1
Got it Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Some women really like them, others don't. I am not one who likes overly muscular men (the idea that he could literally crush me if he wanted to isn't lost on me) but I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. It isn't my number one ideal but for the right guy, sure.
Spiroman Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Never ask females this question. More than half say they don't care or don't like them. And yet when they run into a guy with a muscular physique, they fall all over him. I've seen it happen time and time again - it almost never fails.

Men tend to think he is what women want but many of us do not. There isn't a body type that appeals to the majority, female taste is as diverse as male. 2
sillyanswer Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I see plenty of profiles on dating sites where the woman specifically wants someone who has muscles. Those women happen to be old enough to be your mom (because those are the right age for me to date) but I'm sure there will be women of all ages who like that sort of thing, as well as plenty who don't. I don't think you can meaningfully answer whether "women in general" find it attractive, though.
czen Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I think muscles are something most women like. I mean, I've never met anyone who didn't like them, or was like "Uh, you're muscular, get out of here!". Just as long as it doesn't get creepy muscular. I think stuff like Hemsworth in Thor is kind of the area where you should aim at to not go too overboard.
iKING Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 That's a very vague description of a human being. "Has muscles" I'm sure there's other things that would make you appealing as well. Don't emphasize superficial elements over real elements of your being. 1
bentleychic Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Depends on the guy, the personality, etc., etc., etc. It's not something that initially triggers me, but if I got to know someone I might find them attractive. As long as they aren't a "meat head".
thefooloftheyear Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 This is almost like the penis issue...Women say they dont care, but deep down they want a guy thats hung? Or its like a guy saying they dont particularly want a woman with a nice rack, but its certainly desirable if she does have one.. Obviously, I could be wrong, just a theory... TFY 1

TFY I'll agree that those points matter to an individual who focuses primarily on superficial elements. I've said it before on LS, but I don't find large breasts desirable, or any more-so than small, or whatever else. So there are those who don't fall into cookie-cutter definitions of taste in the opposite gender. In my world, a brain is equally involved in the process of attraction as much as chemical reactions. A girl can be gorgeous, but if she's a terrible person, she will be unattractive to me.

Whereas, if all was equal, why then would a nice rack,(or a good body on a guy), then be a "turnoff"... I cant see how that could possibly be, but what do I know? BTW, there is nothing at all "wrong" with wanting a certain "type"..be it male or female..Its just human nature..I wouldnt call it being superficial.. TFY

TFY If all was perceived equally, there would be no difference, but as humans, we all have a different perception of our realities. We're all superficial to some extent. It's not meant negatively, just honestly.
spiderowl Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Personally, no. I like nice toning, but too many muscles just looks like they spend their time in the gym (and that would be boring for me). I also feel it's a bit self-obsessed in some way? I do not say this to detract from your achievement or what matters to you. What you need is a woman who does appreciate these things and she will probably be a health and fitness woman herself who is looking for a protective guy. We are all different and have different needs from a partner.
Maleficent Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Of course women like muscle…however, there is a middle-ground…why don't you post a picture so we can tell? In the meantime for those who understand French… Enjoy! 1

Well, I'm sure a lot of women do like muscles but from what I've gathered from my girl friends, it's the V shape of the male torso that is a turn-on. I guess its sort of like seeing the hourglass shape in women for us guys. Also to the other guy, I'm fairly certain Chris Hemsworth was on steroids for the shooting of Thor.
Star Gazer Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Depends on the woman... I spend most of my time outdoors for both work and leisure, so someone who looks like they spend all day inside a gym would turn me off. Pretty much this. There's an obvious difference - to me - between the "I work out at the gym" and "I am fit from the outdoorsy athletic activities I participate in." 2
