Harradin Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Just a cheeky little update just to show it can get better for those suffering. Background, basically my ex went crazy when her parents got divorced and then decided to run off with a so called friend of mine. The relationship itself didn't last very long but I was very emotionally invested in the relationship(first proper love) so it basically tore me to pieces, you can see from my previous thread history I was pretty torn up. Went off the rails for a couple of months, had a nervous breakdown etc so went to counselling and went NC. I was lucky that I met her at a car club online so it was easy to break all of the ties, the only way she could contact me is if she knocked on my door or saw me in the street. I started exercising and getting into judo and kickboxing to get into proper shape. Been NC ever since, it took me about 6-8 months to take off the rose tinted glasses to realise she was a nutjob, was afraid to jump into another relationship as I was living in the past and tarring everyone with the same brush. I also decided that I need to love myself before I get into a relationship. Not had any relationships since but developed an enormous crush (it crept up on me) on a girl I know, its one sided though as she acts very cold towards me and it always seems to be me making all the effort. Not fussed because I'm a pretty emotionless guy so I don't tend to get feelings for women (in fact this is only the 3rd girl I've developed a crush on) so its kinda nice to not be robotic. I'll probably let the feelings settle for a bit (but not going to tell her) and then move on! I'm over 10 months NC and I'm better off without my ex, I'm much happier and in better shape too. NC works wonders, you just have to stick with it. 3
