nikki.nc92 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Hi Guys, I like in QLD, Australia with my partner. All our family lives in Victoria, Australia. We are wanting to have our wedding at Hamilton Island but my mum has said that it is too expensive for people. Is it unreasonable to invite people when flying and accommodation would be roughly $700-$800 per person? They would have over a years notice to save a little and when i worked it out they would have to save like less than $19 a week. (They all have jobs, but not 'well off' people) We would be paying for nearly everything else. Is this too much to be asking? We don't want the wedding in Victoria as it isn't home anymore and our allergies play up really bad. I just want other peoples opinion on this. Thanks Guys
2sure Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 For people that aren't well off, asking them to save any amount per week for a year is going to be a burden, or just not done. And it isn't just the airfare and hotel, it's time off of work. It means taking their vacation time and money for an evenings event. You might consider paying for your guests accommodations. That might make it doable for some.
Silly_Girl Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 It might not seem much to you (esp. as it's your wedding!) but for a family, travel, accommodation, outfits, time off work (?), gifts etc etc it could work out to be too much for some folk. Depends what your priorities are, and whether your loved ones have disposable income to make it viable.
