Did they get the sitter so other people didn't have to hear their the child's tantrums or did they get the sitter so their life was made easier for the those few precious hours away from parenting and it helped regain their sanity ?.. I'll bet I know....:)

Both....:p

I saw a mother driven to tears herself one time because her baby wouldn't stop crying. She tried everything she could think of, but it just ended up being a really bad flight for both of them. I think she took it too seriously. Babies cry. It's a fact of life. And no one around her could overlook how hard she tried to fix the problem, so no one really resented it.

A crying baby doesn't bother me.

I've been on flights with seriously misbehaving children, and I really resented it. But I have noise suppressing earphones that allow me to escape the noise.

On one flight I was on, several children were actually allowed to run freely up and down the aisle, and I of course had an aisle seat. I hated those kids and I hated their parents even more. thump, thump, thump, thump, yell, scream. I still hate them.

Have a child and find out that sometimes it is wholly impossible to stop them screaming.

It's one of the downsides of public transport, along with gobby pensioners, smelly stinky fat people and irritating self centred individuals moaning about how bad the journey is.

Don't want to have to deal with these things? Don't travel.

I have no desire to have a child... I just have a problem with the parents who just ignore their kid while it screams its head off. Most of the time when a see a baby/kid it is either extremely well behaved or the parent's just ignore the kid as it screams and cries.

I recently went on a bus trip to a baseball game and all the way home there was a pack of drunken adults acting like loud obnoxious fools while my children were being perfectly quiet and trying to sleep. Wow I just threw a whole new twist on this old story
