misskat Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm needing a little insight and advice. I was in a relationship for 4 years and we broke up in October so it's been a while since I've worried about dating. A few weeks ago an old coworker from about 2 years ago added me on Facebook. I accepted it not thinking too much into it. I kinda had a small crush on him when we worked together but at the time I was engaged so never acted on it. Friday night I got a message from him asking if I was still married. I replied with "No... mostly because I've never been married". So I figured he was at least a little interested and this was his way of asking if I'm single. Saturday and Sunday we sent a few meaningless messages back and forth then he asked me is I'm seeing anyone and I said no he said either was he. Last night we were talking and he asked if I was looking for a boyfriend or if I like the single life. I'm thinking he was going to ask me out but didn't. I haven't heard from him today. Am I crazy for thinking he is into me? Should I say something to maybe hint that I'm interested in him? Should I contact him or let him make the next move? I don't want to scare him off or sound too desperate.
SantistaUSA Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 when he asked if you are looking for a bf or like the single life, what did you respond? The way I look at it he is definitely interested.
Author misskat Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 I said I didn't know that being single is a big lifestyle change from what I was used to.

Men like the chase and so he will contact you again if he is interested and enjoyed talking to you. Maybe in the next conversation you could ask him if he likes the single life
Author misskat Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 I did ask him and he said that he has been single since April and in his case it's nice because she was crazy.
Phoe Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 (edited) He's interested lol. No one asks if you're seeing anyone, then asks if you are looking for a relationship, just to have some polite small talk. lol. Edited July 31, 2013 by Phoe oops
ChessPieceFace Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I don't see why a guy would bother with those (multiple) questions unless he was interested. He might be too shy to ask you, or he might be trying to be casual and waiting to make his move. Might as well wait a few days and see what happens. Another option is asking him to get together for coffee/lunch to "catch up" since you say he's an old co-worker. Don't have to use the word date at all.
forgetmenot75 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Aww...He is interested indeed! Send him a cute funny message, and see what he replies
Author misskat Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 I get that he is interested. My question is how do I talk to him. I'm horrible at dating and haven't done it in almost 5 years.
forgetmenot75 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Send him some funny message, something related to what you've rallied, some funny joke to get him engaged in the conversation, something that makes him smile. He didn't contact you yet, huh?
Author misskat Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Nope :-( I wish I wasn't so bad at this.
forgetmenot75 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Send him a text message asking something outrageous: Have you ever orbited the moon in Apollo 10? Have you ever saved a baby from a burning building? Have you ever performed in front of 20 thousand people live while playing in a rock band.? When he says no, wait awhile and respond, "me either" Things like that always break the ice when it comes to text messaging.........text messaging sucks. Mmm, I don;t really agree with this one. Sound funny, though, but most suitable for a high school joke. I'd ask him how was his day. simple. If you don't have any other idea, it's better to act like you usually do with a friend of you. What would you text a fried if you want to hung out with her? something funny, something simple. don't risk too much on this, better play it safe. Let us know
