Mr. Lucky Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Rule #4468 of human nature: "If a person, man or woman, CAN get away with something, they WILL do it." Women often abuse men because they can. Women are not above human nature as many would have us believe. Let's say that the cases of real abuse - perpetrated mostly by men - and fabricated abuse - claimed mostly by women - are roughly equal. Only one of those is physically and potentially life threatening. Are you proposing they be treated the same way ??? Mr. Lucky

Mr. Lucky If a man goes to jail for something he didn't do, I think a stint in jail can be physically and potentially life threatening. And common sense says if an innocent man gets 5 years for a mythical rape, surely the criminal should get the same 5 years for actually being guilty, not a fine for public mischief.
TaraMaiden Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Rule #4468 of human nature: "If a person, man or woman, CAN get away with something, they WILL do it." Women often abuse men because they can. Women are not above human nature as many would have us believe. Usually those who have learned not to act in certain ways have either been disciplined early on by parents or have suffered the discipline of God later in life. The Bible says that God disciplines those he loves. It's the ones who he doesn't favor that he lets go their own way and, ironically, makes it seem like they ARE blessed because they avoid repercussions (at least temporarily). Oy my life...I was wondering when you'd drag your religious convictions into it... Leave that for another topic, ok? I hardly think the majority of people beating their spouses are anywhere near normal, god-fearing people....so they'd give a phukk either way....
Mr. Lucky Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 And common sense says if an innocent man gets 5 years for a mythical rape In the domestic setting to which the OP originally referred, the "he said, she said" nature of the charge makes real or mythical status difficult to determine. And so the current system uses RO's to separate the parties involved, usually to the man's disadvantage. Despite the philosophical discussion in the thread so far, there doesn't seem to be many real-world alternatives to that approach... Mr. Lucky
