Can you reason with a delusional person during a break up?

Dear all,

I am a professional medical person who supports people every day... And I love my work.

Me ex partner who I have been with for 5 years suddenly dumps he is leaving and reasons are woolly, saying I have been negative or dumped on him... No specific examples given. This was 3 weeks ago.

We have had our moments of ups and downs nothing that serious but the normal scenario is I ask is something up? And his reply is nothing but he shuts down and hides in his work.

He has been going back and forwards to Thailand for his business and after the bombshell where I have been going nuts literally...he has told me he wants to save a Thai bargirl and bring her back to Australia and she has the tickets already. He has found a new place in a hurry as she will be coming over in the next 3 weeks. She doesn't even speak much English. In the meantime, he is still living in the house like nothing has happened? He has moved downstairs and packing. However...I am going quite crazy trying to reason and beat myself up and losing the plot with grief and anger.

Is he quite out of touch with reality? Or am I over reacting?

I just need to know if this is a normal breakup situation? Are his actions according to normal society noble? As he seems to think so and refuses to admit it. By the way, he freely admits ours is the best relationship he has had.

Thanks....

unfortunately worrying if he is delusional, noble, or normal is all irrelevant. in his mind this is what he wants to do, so someone can't judge his behavior based on how we would WANT him to behave. it isn't going to be any use trying to convince him that his behavior is abnormal in any way, because it's just going to turn him against you, putting him on the defensive.
