Girls may go to those with the false notion of engaging in some intelligent conversations with guys, but frat guys go to those to crush a cervix, no other reason, and they won't care if she has a boyfriend or not.

Well, if true, how is that any different than any other college party?

Yesterday, she told me that she really wants to join a sorority
How attractive is your girlfriend? If she's above avergage or smoking...afraid to say it, but things wouldn't be looking good for you. Just enjoy your time with her. Have sex with her when she visits you (wrap up though). Treat this relationship casually. You're in your early 20's, you're probably not going to marry this girl. There's really no point in getting too emotionally invested in this girl.

I would say that my girlfriend is definitely above average, and maybe on the edge of smoking. Then again, my opinion is hardly going to be objective. I get what you're trying to say, but is Greek life really that bad? Are her sorority sisters likely to actively try to get her to end our relationship, or just in a passive "we wish you'd hang out with us more" kind of way? Is there anything I can do to better my chances (besides join a frat, I'm not going there)? Thanks for the response!

I know there are plenty of more academic, less party-oriented sororities in colleges these days... My buddy's ex was in one full of rather dorky chicks a few years back.

Anyway I didn't read many responses but listen to Castle's first post, it was on point.

First of all, thanks for the response. I think you misunderstood my concerns a bit: I trust her, and I know that under normal circumstances she wouldn't even think about cheating on me. But I'm also aware of the Greek life stereotypes, and I know that the peer pressure of an entire group of close friends can be pretty overpowering, not to mention the influence of alcohol. She's definitely not the party type or the cheating type, but I'm worried that her "sisters" will want to be. That's why I'm asking if my worries are well-founded, and asking for personal experiences as justification. Thanks again for your response!

Does that stuff go on? Of course, absolutely. Does it happen often? Absolutely. However it depends on the person. You can't just listen to all of our experiences and then put that image on your girlfriend. Only YOU know your girlfriend. Is she the type to be easily manipulated? If so, it probably will be easy for her to fall into the sorority trap.

Also, what are the reasons for her joining a sorority? Not all houses are based on partying and living up the college life. Some sororities are education/career based. Other sororities are based on how good you grades are, others are heavy into community service and doing things for/with the town/school etc.

Bro, my ex-girlfriend joined a sorority this pass semester. We both go to a small state school (less then 5000 kids) and I never saw the girl during the week. Only at night would I see her, when she would come over to go to bed.

She was so involved... always doing something. I became second choice. Not saying that will happen with you, but me and her spilt. She ended it with me. She wasn't happy because we fought all the time, and didn't hang out enough really.

It took over her life. It really does change you... She went out and drink every weekend. She would come back to my room at 3-5 am and i'd let her in. She couldn't sleep by herself.

Be careful, I supported her through it and she told me she was doing it "for us". 4 months later she ended it.... So I've learned my lesson.... never **** with sorority girls.
