Ok I'm still awake at this hour and kind of bored so I decided to make this thread :) I don't know where to put this thread though. Any of you guys scared to stay at your bf/gf house because you are scare of ghosts? Or seen anything paranormal while over their house?

I'm not a big fan of horror movies. I never watch it alone. I even get scared while watching it with other people. I did remember one time trying to overcome my fear by watching The Ring with nobody home. It was a rainy night as well. I turn it immediately off when it got to the scene where the girl changes her face in the closet. Anyways my ex happens to like scary movies. She would watch those movie alone like The Ring, The Grudge (japanese version as well). She told me she had an uncle that pass away from a motorcycle accident. She told me that other people have seen her uncle's presence in the house. He was friendly. Just occasionally pass by the restroom mirror. The really bad point was that she told me her uncle was standing right infront of her ex feet (the guy before me) while he was sleeping. I don't know the validity of that story because her ex before me was a drug addict. That scared me to death because I have been sleeping in her house after school. Not for the night but for a few hours. She would walk out of the house to her car and get things and such. She would always invite me over to sleep at her house. I always make an excuse that I have to do something, or that I have to wake up early to do some stuff. I didn't tell her that I was scared to stay the night over her house because I'm scared of ghosts.

I did stay one night though. I couldn't sleep the whole night. I just toss and turn. The suck part was that she turn the heater really high. I litterally had to take my shirt and shorts off and sleep in boxers. She had the tv on thank goodness. I was scared to even go use the restroom. I kept looking down at my feet the whole night. It was so hot that I was sweating. I always put my feet under the covers though lol.

After seeing the exorcists, and recent movies such as Mama and Sinister I'm afraid to really stay over anyone house. I did want to see that movie The Conjuring but I'm no longer with my gf so I didn't want to go see it alone. My other friends all brought their gf/bf so I didn't want to be the third wheel.

It's all BS.

I really cannot comprehend the mentality of those who write novels, or make movies, with the express intention of terrifying people, and taking their money in the process.

It's beyond my comprehension why people would also pay good money to see such horror.

I equate it with someone actually sitting down at a drawing board and designing a sleek, efficient weapon, purely designed, ultimately to violently deprive some other creature of their life.

WTF???

I don't know I'm just so terrified of these stuff. I guess it was because I started watching them around my friends and my relatives when I was younger. I was already scared, so I didn't want to go to my room and be by myself. I remember we use to stay in these apartments. There was a group of us that stay over a friend house. He would turn some scary movies on late at night around 1 am. Mind you that we were all around 12 to 14. Then we had to go home by the time the movie is over. The other kids wasn't that afraid so they just walk home. I literally had to run back to my apartment.

I think you believe too many stories man. As if her uncle is in the house. Why the hell would he be standing at her ex's feet, of all places? How old are you OP? Those are just movies. It's not real. I love horror movies, but I've never taken that fear into RL. It's nice to be scared in a cinema for a few hours then go forget about it.

I suspect that one reason is similar to the reason why people go on roller coasters: many of us live relatively safe, boring lives and stirring up some of those other feelings and emotions from time to time seems like a fun thing to do.

yeah; I take your point - but going on a roller-coaster ride is going to, at worst, make you feel queasy or throw up for a few moments.

I know some folks have suffered nightmares for weeks after watching a horror movie.....

These movies do come with ratings to give a clue to those of a sensitive disposition that they aren't watching Disney.[1]

[1] but having said that, some people get upset watching Bambi.

A friend of mine pointed out that you never know just how badly a horror movie will affect you, until you've watched it. She's an avid horror-buff, but some 'disturb' her more than others.

I replied that that's precisely the reason I don't watch them. Who knows how much schytt you retain?

I would venture to suggest more 'deranged' people get behavioural ideas from horror movies than they do from Bambi, though....
