What are some reasons that a guy who genuinely likes you would NOT ask you out? This is a guy who is genuinely interested in you as more than something casual, and would be thinking of you as someone he could see himself being in a committed, long term relationship with.

I already know some of the reasons would be that he is married, already in a relationship, or being too insecure to ask me out. Besides these reasons, what are other ones?

Based on experience, and lots of it, he's clearly unsure of your 'single' status. That one still haunts me, even after 30+ years of experience with women. To be perfectly honest, I don't believe 'em and, so far, most of the time, that belief turns out to be accurate.

Maybe he's been burned so many times that he's opted out of the game. Also, I'd like to know why a woman who's interested in a man won't ask HIM out. Is it the sexist relationship books, advice from girlfriends, or maybe the woman isn't that into him. I've seen women ask men out, me included, and there's nothing wrong with that. The calendar on my computer reads 2013.

He's going bankrupt, dread disease, depression or ED, about to move or change jobs, going back to school, lots of possibilities.

Maybe she is shy. Rejection can be hard to cope with even for a girl.

Well, maybe she just needs to "woman up" and face that possibility. Getting rejected isn't the end of the world- I know this because I've been rejected many times and last I checked the world is still here.

As to the OP- who knows. There could be a myriad of excuses, but in my mind they always boil down to lack of confidence. How do you know so surely that he is interested?
