tanbark813 Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 You are out with your current boyfriend/girlfriend/transexual lifemate/etc. You happen to run into a parent of your SO's ex. Your SO--who normally introduces you as the bf/gf/etc--now introduces you simply by your name. Would you be upset?
Naive Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I probably would be pretty upset, but you also have to take into consideration that your SO has been put in awkward position, why make it any worse?

hulavie Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Happened to me before..... nope I didn't get upset. It's okay I guess..... but also depends on how long the two of you have been a couple. Erm..... as long as he did not use the words 'this is my friend' in the introduction.
hulavie Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Oops.... I just realised I misunderstood your post. Your SO's ex's parents! Now I get why you are upset. Heck! His ex's parents has no business knowing about his life anyway. I take back what I said.... I would not feel totally offended but would definitely feel a big 'pinch'
yes Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 I think I wouldn't care. It's kind of considerate not to rub into the ex's parent's face that s/he's got somebody new now. my 2c, -yes
savethedrama4allama Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 My feelings would be extremely hurt.
EC Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Depending on how long we have been together I would be upset. Not too upset but hurt and it would make me start thinking things...
faux Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 My girlfriend always introduces me as "Eric". Usually, the people know ahead of time that I am the boyfriend. If someone does not know who I am, the person usually asks what relation I am to her, and the boyfriend thing is cleared up.
