yes Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 I'm dating someone smarter than me - someone gifted. Given that we're students in the same field, it's quite obvious who studies more and still does worse (me!). I really hate feeling competitive - it creates too much distance in the r/s. It'd be easier if we in different fields but we're not. I do also feel proud and happy for him, but can't help but feel frustrated when i know i will study more and do worse. Mind you, I'm just fine in the grand scale - I don't do bad, just not as excellent as him. In terms of other things, I feel very cooperative and have no trouble as of yet. Any advice? thanks, -yes
tiki Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Do you supercede in other areas? Couldn't that be viewed the same (by him)? Be glad you have someone to converse with. Atleast he's not a dumba$$. It COULD be worse.
Author yes Posted October 26, 2004 Author Posted October 26, 2004 Oh, of course it could be worse. The thing is, what you're studying is bigger than other things. In any case, I don't want to keep score (I'm better at this, but he's better at that, etc). I'd rather just be OK with him being better at things, no matter how the ratio of (what i'm better at vs. what he's better at) works out. Any other thoughts, anyone? -yes
