Dakotaross14 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I am just wondering. Because I never really hear about it. I have broad shoulders 41". And I'm tiny 102 lbs 5'1" and 32 inch hips. My biggest part to me are my shoulders I like it makes me look strong and although I'm tiny I'm strong as well. I have always been comfortable with my shoulders. I've actually only had two girls mention my shoulders being big because I shrug a lot. Never had a guy mention it as an issue. At the same time I'd think since having a low waist to shoulder ratio is a masculine trait I'd think it would be a turn off. So what are your opinions on women with bigger shoulders?
BeholdtheMan Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 This chick right here and right here, she got wide shoulders, she hot as fu**
Teufelhunden Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I think that broad shoulders, just like any physical attribute, will vary depending on the guy. I personally wouldn't care one way or the other. There are probably guys out there that wouldn't like it; but just as likely there are guys that would find it more attractive. 1
sillyanswer Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 So what are your opinions on women with bigger shoulders? If there's some athletic muscle definition to go with those broad shoulders then sign me up!
MrCastle Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Missy Franklin is 6'1, broad shouldered, with size 13 feet and hands that are 8.5 inches long, and I think she is adorable. Maybe it's her face, or her demeanor, but she doesn't seem masculine to me, despite her athletic build and height.
camillalev Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I have broad shoulders as well, though I'm not althletic at all. It's one of the few physical attributes I have that bother me:o my upper torso is elongated as well, im slender so that combination results in people thinking ive done ballet or am a model. And people think I have a great posture. Thats the upside i suppose. But broad shoulders makes wearing certain clothes very tricky :/ id rather have dainty lady shoulders! As for men, it's never been a deterrent. Guys have their own physical preferences, but personality trumps all.
Emilia Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I don't know whether I'd describe my shoulders as broad but I have more developed traps and deltoid muscles than most women. What that seems to do is emphasize my waist. I'm sure it's a turn off for some men but on the other hand it seems to make others curious as it's unusual on a woman. I haven't experienced any disadvantages as such so far... Probably not an issue overall. 1
pcplod Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I could be wrong. In fact, I probably am wrong, but I don't think other people analyse us in the way that we might analyse ourselves. Bit by bit, in excruciating detail, as if we were prize bulls or cows. Leave that to farmers, and maybe they are the people to size up other people out of sheer force of habit. If it is true that we weigh one another up in just a few seconds initially then that doesn't seem to give much time for anything more than a cursory glance at overall appearance to see whether there is anything immediately and obviously incongruous that would just put us off. Maybe the time to see whether they are looking at you, whether they are smiling, whether they are approachable or stand-offish, or downright sullen or hostile. I still maintain, like a stuck record, that it is the face, hair and smile, and overall state of health, ie obese or not, that will do it for me. After that I am more likely to want to know who the person is and whether there is an prospect that they might be interested in me. Let's keep it simple, it already is difficult enough.
Ninjainpajamas Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I doubt it's going to have much of an impact on most guys, it's never been something I've at least heard of...the women I've noticed having wide shoulders personally have been sexy...plus you're tiny otherwise and not huge long lanky woman that some guys might not be into physically speaking, without giving much regard to the measurement of the shoulder width you posted, I very much still doubt it's going to be an issue and more so your own insecurity and over-emphasis of it.
thefooloftheyear Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Bottom line is as long as you dont lose your femininity, then it will never be an issue.. There is a woman powerlifter I know and see at the gym and she is pretty big(her ass and thighs are big and she has huge tits) she probably is around 5'8" and maybe 175 or so...I find her very attractive, but I know a lot of guys wouldnt.. sabre80 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 In the 80s all the women's tops had shoulder pads to make their shoulders look broader. 1
kaylan Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Depends on the girl for me. This one jock girl in college I had a HUGE crush on. She had shoulders, but she also had hips that flared out, and a nice butt and nice chest. Im into athletic chicks, so I actually enjoyed that she was feminine but strong at the same time. Reminded me of Xena.
melodymatters Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 We sound like we have very similar size/body types. I am about your height and weight and as well as square shoulders I have a big rib cage which, wait for it, makes my boobs look bigger ! I have to buy bigger sizes for my top than my bottom, do you ? Anyway, I'm in my 40's and not once has even one guy mentioned my shoulders, while I have been told I had a great body numerous times. My guess is you are young and worrying about something completely inconsequential ! 1

Author Dakotaross14 Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 Never been insecure about it honestly. I've seen my shoulders as a plus most ignore the fact that I have them though. And I also do get that. I'm petit people always assume I'm smaller than I actually am.
GorillaTheater Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 In the 80s all the women's tops had shoulder pads to make their shoulders look broader. I don't have an issue with broad shoulders on a woman, and in fact my wife would probably qualify for that description, but those shoulder pads were one of the worst fashion blunders EVAH, ranking up there with leisure suits. 4
ltjg45 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 This chick right here and right here, she got wide shoulders, she hot as fu** If this is what we are referring to as broad shoulders, I got no issues with them. In fact, I promote it. 1

Depends on the guy. I think narrower shoulders are attractive on a woman, but it depends on how broad they are. I wouldn't know without being able to see. I'm sure a lot of guys wouldn't mind though.
Dread Pirate Roberts Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 If this is what we are referring to as broad shoulders, I got no issues with them. In fact, I promote it. Yeah, they both have broader shoulders and they're both cute.

will1988 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 as others have pointed out IMO as long as the girl is feminine I don't care if she has broad shoulders.... as long as they are not broader than mine we are good. However, if she has manly shoulders or arms, yes that is a turn off to me. 1

In fact, I promote it. no hers look medium actually haha. She has hips to proportion it out. My shoulders are at least 6-7 inches bigger. They're 2-3 inches bigger than my boobs which are considered pretty big for my small waist and body in general.
tbf Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 What are you measuring to get a 41" shoulder span? Something's wrong if you're a 5'1", 102 lb woman. It's near impossible unless you're falling over from the imbalance.
