Lately I've been finding myself shifting music interest and there are certain songs I listen to that help me get through the rough times as I scream out the lyrics. Now, I'm not referring to songs that we wallow to and obsess over the "wonderful times" with our exes but rather songs to brings us to a better mood for at least as long as the song lasts. So what are some of those songs you guys listen to?

Here are some of the songs I've been stuck in (in a good way) listening:

Fall Out Boy- Beat it

Hoobastank- I don't think I love you

Godsmack- I stand alone

Linkin Park- Don't stay

I have to say Music was, is and always will be my number one healer. Just now I am listening to The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It and, some people may find it weird, I actually am smiling!

Over the past few months my playlist consisted of tracks from different genres and songs like:

Frank Sinatra - Theme From New York, New York

Frank Sinatra - Nothing But The Best

Rudimental - Free

Rudimental - Not Giving In (although you need the right attitude for Rudimental)

Public Enemy - Harder Than You Think

There is a mix of all genres in my playlist, but all those songs have one, most important thing in common: they make life more beautiful and me more alive and happy!

The one I've been singing (showing my age here!!) is Viola Wills - Gonna get along without you now.

How powerful is this line? :- 'Got along without ya, before I met ya, gonna get along without you now'

It just makes you think! Plus you can play it loud and sing your heart out

Here is a link if you don't know it:

It depends if you want sad songs or happy songs?

I find sad songs are great, they help you 'get it all out'

Elliot smith- kingscrossing, twilight, and pitseleh ...these are excellent.

Check out Above & Beyond especially their weekly radio show "Group Therapy" and some old episodes of their previous show "Trance Around the World". Not sure what genres of music you're into but they play uplifting trance music. Uplifting as in you can lose yourself in the music and pay attention to the beats, synths, vocals, kicks, etc. and put you in a better, more optimistic, thoughtful mood. Its been helping me a lot through my current breakup.

Also good music to let your thoughts drift off and fall asleep to at night.

For the angry times: "Angel of Death" by Slayer, "All Hail the New Flesh" and "Oh My F**king God" by Strapping Young Lad, "Shame" by Stabbing Westward, "Last" by Nine Inch Nails (and really, the entire Broken EP), "Stand" by The Devin Townsend Project... anything metal/industrial/stompy/pissed off.

For the sad times: "Soma" by Smashing Pumpkins, the entire Ghost album by The Devin Townsend Project, and then to cheer me up, a smattering of 80s tunes (seriously, how can you listen to 80s music and be sad?)- "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears For Fears, "Alive and Kicking" by Simple Minds, "In a Big Country" by Big Country, "Lips Like Sugar" by Echo & The Bunnymen, and "The Ghost in You" by Psychedelic Furs have been amongst my favorites lately.

For everything else, I throw on one of my Pandora stations, and let the cards come out as they may.

Also, lately I've been writing a lot of music- mostly moody, Pink Floyd-y progressive/psychedelic stuff.

If it weren't for music, I think coping would be impossible.
