Hello! I'm a new member here but I've been reading the threads quite a lot over the past few months trying to get over a crappy bu.

Long story short, he went from 'I love you and want to live with you' to 'I don't love you anymore please don't bother me about why I'm breaking up with you. You're too smart, you'll figure it out' in just one day. Just like that.

Now you can imagine I was livid as I felt betrayed, blindsided and stupid. He called me the next day after the bu (money issues, I told him it's on me just stay away), after which he insisted that we should part amicably (after being extremely cold and ignoring my attempts to find out why we're breaking up during the bu) and - I insulted him by calling him... well, a name. It was ugly and very unlike me. He hang up after that, and I was left in shock. I tried speaking to him again on the same day, trying to find out what went wrong, but he wouldn't tell me. And that's it - it's been NC ever since, almost 3 months.

Interestingly enough, although he was terrible to me, I do feel guilty about insulting him because it wasn't like me. I've never called anybody a name in my life and it feels so bad and humiliating. I've been thinking about apologizing, but on the other hand he never apologized for behaving the way he did and... the guilt persists. Btw he's 27.5 and I'm 25, we dated for 8 months.

Is this normal? Has anyone insulted their so during a nasty breakup?

Of course its normal! Did he expect you to give him a big happy hug?

Dont bother apologizing or anything...move on.
