Talking to a gal that lives in the next state, about 1 1/2 hour drive. Not all that bad, but wonder how realistic this would be on a day to day basis. Guess I'm just looking for other peoples input and experiences.

A LDR is whatever the couple considers it to be. Some people think 30 minutes is too far while others see 4 hours as nothing.

How often do you want to see her and how often does she want to see you? It might be a bit much for a daily visit, but a few times a week shouldn't be an issue if you two can communicate and coordinate.

A 1 1/2 hour drive is practically next door - from where I'm currently standing anyway - which is approximately 11,000 miles from my fiancé.

I think you'll find most people on here will say something similar.

It's all relative though. It depends how much you like each other, as well as the time and resources you have available to make it work.

Generally, people consider it a LDR when you're too far to visit each other weekly by car. Personally, an hour and a half is nothing to me. You can visit each other every weekend easily :)

I hate putting labels on what does or doesn't constitute an LDR. I'm in what I consider to be one, though our distance isn't nearly as far as most (a two-hour drive). Also complicating the situation is that I work a "normal" 8-4 schedule during the week, while he works about 4:30am-12:30pm--this means he goes to bed about 6 every night, so the chance for evening dates or even just long conversations is limited. We manage to see each other every/every other weekend, when he keeps more normal hours, but it's definitely a balancing act.
