imtooconfused Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I heard the song "More Than Words" again this week. Perhaps you remember the song from the '90s by Extreme. Many considered it a treasured love song, but I am one to actually listen to the lyrics: Saying I love you Is not the words I want to hear from you It's not that I want you Not to say, but if you only knew How easy it would be to show me how you feel More than words is all you have to do to make it real Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me 'Cause I'd already know What this song is telling me is that you can tell your partner "I Love You" all you want, but it doesn't mean anything unless you show your partner that you love them. Having been in such a relationship, this song strikes me as exceptionally sad. What would you say if I took those words away Then you couldn't make things new Just by saying I love you Have you ever felt that your partner is just going through the motions of saying "those words" without showing you the feelings behind it? 1
hestheone66 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I adore this song and it has very important meaning to me. I reflect that although it reminds me of the man I have had the most astoundingly loving feelings for and would have done almost anything for, he was fond of me and may have believed he lived me too. but to witness his actions towards me..including leading me on, lying and choosing a toxic vampire over me, demonstrates his frequent 'I love yous' to be just words... After I healed from a truly broken heart i met a man of quiet perseverance who has made me know what a real man in love will do to care for and keep the woman he loves. he has only said he loves me twice in 1.5 years (which made me melt) but almost everything he does (together or apart) shows his love for me xx 1
