NGC1300 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I've been told I'm a handsome guy. That's good I guess. In terms of online dating, I do get messages from a lot of women. However, their comments ritualistically center around me being "cute". WTF is this nonsense. Please help.
soccerrprp Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 OMG, it means that you are cute! Good looking! Handsome! Don't over analyze this....one way or another, it's a compliment. 6
gaius Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 It basically means you're not smoking hot but they might F you anyway. 3

WTF is this nonsense. Please help. You mean lots of women message you without you messaging them first ? If you get more than emails from more than 3-4 girls a week who you hadn't contacted prior to their messaes, it's a safe bet that you are in the top tier of men when it come to onlne dating. Usually due to looks and/or money. In your case I'm guessing that it is looks. The 10% of male ok cupid users judged to be most attractive get less messages than female users rated as below average attractiveness. This is due to the fact that women rarely pursue men on dating sites. The sheer volume of messages that you get from women without contacting them first tells me that you're in that top 10% in looks for guys. The general rule is that any girl who messages a guy on an online dating website without him having messaged her first is VERY into him based on his profile. We know this because so few women ever message guys in online dating. Even the ones who liked me on match usually don't message me, they will simply view my profile (which I can see in settings) or maybe they click that digital wink button to let me know their interest. 1
coachcomeback Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 It's kinda like a bunny. Warm and cuddly. Makes you go "awww how adorable" but I think, as a guy, you would prefer "HOT DIGGITY DAWG" 1
Star Gazer Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Cute is what I call a really attractive guy who I find to be BF/husband material. Hot is just a really attractive guy who doesn't have much substance. 3

Maybe 3 a week, but yes I know what you mean about women rarely initiating. One girl even messaged me twice in one week even though I didn't respond to her first message. It was creepy.
smile1983 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Cute means attractive. It's just girl talk. Guys do not like to be called cute so we usually do it behind your backs but sometimes we slip up and do it in front of you. In an online setting there are probably more girls who will speak their mind without worrying about it, thus the messages saying you're cute. I'd take it as a compliment if I were you. 1

Most of the ones who message me initially are ones that I'm not attracted to (almost always due to weight but they still saw fit to check the athletic and toned box). If a girl who u aren't attracted to messages you and calls you cute, it's basically the same as an unattractive guy messaging a stereotypical hot girl and saying OMG Ur hot. The girl doesn't want to come off as that desperate but they basically are.

Also, consider if we wrote "wowie wow you a fine looking man! You're a bonified hottie, and you make me think dirty things." Okay, so not like that. But if we wrote you with more suggestible words (especially with any hint of sexual undertone), we fear it would lead you to think we are looking for THAT kind of relationship. So we have only one word that means, "I like your face. And I like your body." that is non-sexual enough to get the point across: cute. And we use it. 1

Nice looking sounds better when discussing men
MrCastle Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Not sure of your age but saying that about a grown man who is 25 and older would sound weird. Nice looking sounds better when discussing men I'm 25 and get thrown the cute one more often than not. I always took it to mean my face. I don't think people say "oh what a cute body." I think they mean "cute face." Which is fine by me as I feel that is my best feature. On the rare occassion a chick calls me hot, I assume she's talking about the whole package. Emphasis on package.
The_Reginald Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 It basically means you're not smoking hot but they might F you anyway. You can still be smoking hot and cute at the same time
SJC2008 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I've thought about this myslef. As I've posted before I've been called everything under the sun. To me it really depends on the person saying it and what YOU think of yourself. TGS I rationalized cute to mean anything other than a woman being truly attracted to me. I would say it means they think I'm cute in a porcelin doll kind of way. Meaning I'm cute but not in a want to rip my clothes off kind of way.

It means you are very sexy and she wants to f...k you badly but she is kind of a nice girl who cannot let you know that directly. As for calling a man to be handsome/attractive, it is just a polite line. it does not mean you are handsome. 1
Pisces13 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Everyone's definition of the word "cute" is different, the general meaning of the word would be "good looking" though. I get called cute by girls a lot myself, just take the compliment. 1
