ebt100 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Has anyone, or does anyone know of anyone that ended up with a serious illness from kissing someone they didn't know that well? I'm not talking about STDs. I'm talking about any one of thousands of pathogens that might be in someones saliva. I mean, do you really know where someone's mouth has been?
creighton0123 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I once got strep C (a European strain) that had to be treated by way of a penicillin shot to the behind to get rid of after two rounds of oral antibiotics. This was after an intense make out session with a really cute guy that lasted for about three hours. Most of the time, people are healthy. It isn't so much someone being unhealthy as much as what they might be carrying without symptoms that your immune system has never seen before. The list, though, is rather small. Cold, flu, strep, mono, meningitis and a handful of others. In order of least severe to most. Still not a reason to be afraid to kiss someone new ;-)

I went to a gay club few years back, with a gay friend (I am a straight female). I met a bi guy there that was super hot. We made out for hours that night. Few days later, I got a killer sore throat. I had to put up with the worst sore throat imaginable for 3 MONTHS. Doctors had no idea what it was
thefooloftheyear Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Just sounds like tinfoil hat type of worry over nothing...Do you wear a crash helmet too when you drive to work? TFY
MidwestUSA Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 One guy, it was like kissing a doorknob. Now, I have a lot of trouble with doorknobs, and try to hit automated doors whenever possible. I'm sure the psych guys have a name for this.

I mean, do you really know where someone's mouth has been? Then might as well stop leaving the house because there are billions of bacteria everywhere. People don't wash their hands after using the lavatory so what is in their mouth is nothing compared to what is on their hands.
