Just wondering. Over the weekend I met a guy who I told my story. I told him that my ex still had two old ex-girlfriends who still writes to him once in a while. But that his first girlfriend, whom he loved (he broke up with her because she was his first serious girlfriend), he has no contact with.

So, the guy asked me whether I wanted to be the ex who he still thinks about but leaves alone, or the ex whom he always writes to whenever things go wrong for him in relationships. After we broke up I saw that she had written him en e-mail asking him how he was, he ended the e-mail with 'Love, x'. He's showed me his e-mails before and he has never ended them with 'Love, x'. Maybe he did this one because he was hurt after we ended things.

So, my question is, does it mean they care more if they give you breadcrumbs? and they don't care if they don't contact you??

it could go either way. it may mean they don't care.

or it may mean they care so much about you (but not in a romantic way) that they have enough respect for you and your healing process to leave you alone and not do anything to delay your healing.

no two situations are ever the same

In the case of my most recent ex, it's because he doesn't care at all. He's well and truly moved on, and I know this because of how cold and detached he feels towards other exes where he was the one to end it. The ones who broke up with him, he's still obsessed with. But when he was the dumper - he can take or leave contact. Which is why when he suggested we could stay friends, I said nope.

I don't think that he will throw breadcrumbs now. he did try to do it for a while while we were still working together, well, her felt bad about he break-up and he tried to help me a much as he could with trying to get a new job and with other things. I don't know if that is considered a breadcrumb.
