Is it RA? Ice packs help alot on swollen joints. Stay away from red meats and try to eat Salmon, tuna, sardines. Get a good rheumatologist as thee are incredible meds out there for RA. It's important to get under a doctor's care soon so you don't get joint damage.

You might want to look into using chinese liniment oil or emu oil. Liniment oils are more herbal and medicinal but depending on the brand you buy, they are very good for arthritis pains.

Also, if you do a check on emu oil, the legitimate brands on the market has been known to reduce joint inflammation. Most brands start around $12 and up.

Flat shoes good insoles. I alternate hot and cold packs. I can't take most meds but I do use some essential oils and eat a lot of salmon. Stay away from salt except Epsom :p

I have RA which is progressing tho it was in remission for nearly 15 years. Follow your doctors advice. Exercise is important but the wrong exercise can cause more damage. Swimming is almost always the best exercise.

I've heard turmeric can be good, but it is best if it is taken with black pepper as apparently the turmeric is absorbed better with black pepper. I take the turmeric capsules, and in addition it is suppose to help with memory.

I do a lot of water therapy (hot tub) to help with my joints. I had to give up running:( but I think I might try water running to see if it gives me the same high.

Is it osteo?...I have an appointment at the degenerative joint disease clinic next week, and will share any tips I learn.

My GP says I will likely need knee replacement surgery in a few years :(

Well you don't give much info to help you out...

If it is osteo then I suggest make sure you are at a healthy body weight, don't run, strengthen the supporting muscles of the joint. Pilates is good for this with a good instructor. Eat well. Supplements may help at early stages at late stages they don't do jack.

Try to keep as much mobility in the joint as possible. Try to avoid unecessary surgeries as the scar tissue and soft tissue damage adds up. If you need a joint replacement, have it. There gets to a point of no return, trying to deny it just means you are in pain and can't get on with your life.

If you are in pain go and see a pain management specialist. Being in pain stresses the body and is not good.

Swimming and cycling are good too

I have a total ankle replacement. My only regret is not doing it sooner.
