The fire rises Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 So, I've been single for five years but looking in the last three, and despite going on quite a few dates, online dating has generally been mega sh** to say the least. I've dated some nice women who I unfortunately didn't click with, as well as all the women I've wanted to avoid... the disappearing acts after several dates, the ones who don't have a clue what they want, the ones not ready for a relationship, the overly clingy types, the ones wanting a rebound, the ones wanting to make their ex jealous, the ones who already have boyfriends, the immature ones, the overly dramatic ones, the shallow ones, the ones looking for a short fling, the ones looking to keep themselves occupied before they move away, the married ones! I just think WTF?! I didn't sign up to this! I get more convinced every day that online dating is not for me and my response level is pretty low despite me putting a lot of thought into each message I send, so it feels like a waste of energy. This leads me to do something I haven't done before, try to do a bit more than just talk to women I meet in the street and try to completely cut out online dating altogether. The generations before me got on without it, so it must work, surely?! I don't get a lot of free time because I work a lot, but I will make sure I do it when I do get the free time. I'm not the type to give up no matter what happens! Anyway, I was just looking to share my story and see how you guys and girls who use online dating have found it? Hopefully I'm not the only one who has met the people I wanted to avoid in bulk!
Leegh Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Do they have the speed dating where you live? A person meets about 30 people in one evening, and spends about 5 minutes talking which each one of them. It's a good way to meet a lot of people in one evening, that way if you are not interested in a person, it's just a short 5 minute conversation, and on to the next person who may be of interest. In addition, during the holiday season there a lot of holiday dances, (of course, you'd have to wait a while for that, as obviously we are not in the holiday season yet). Also, some places have monthly dances, which in my area are mostly held at hotels.
