I am not shocked. At no point ever on this forum have I said "OMG I'm so shocked that I can't get a date" - it's other people who act shocked, which I don't really get. People act shocked, called me a liar, assume I must be ugly or psychotic or something ridiculous. I try to get people to understand that there is NO REASON TO BE SHOCKED that a normal girl struggles dating.

 

 

The whole basis of this thread is "oh hey girls have 100 guys pouncing on them right after a breakup and guys have no girls after them" - total lunacy. I am a firsthand example of a totally normal reasonable girl who doesn't have people beating the door down to get dates.

 

 

If guys would realize that plenty of women are like this they'd probably be a LOT better off.

 

 

Am I dismayed that I struggle to date? Yes. Am I SHOCKED? No.

 

 

I come to this board so that I can gain some insight and hopefully better my situation.

 

I see, well I think the common denominator is simply putting yourself out there more. You can do this either by dating sites (b/c that way guys KNOW if you're talking to them, you're interested obviously in dating) or by flirting more with guys. A lot of reserved guys simply don't have the balls to approach and directly inquire about dating a girl. I understand it, as being a shy person myself, I have to push past the inner resistance when approaching girls in a manner to get a date. It's not easy, at all. So yeah, flirting with guys and showing indicators that you find them attractive or would totally be open to dating, is something you should probably start doing if you haven't been.

The majority of guys will not cold approach. No body wants to be rejected, and I would bet there have been plenty of guys that walked by you and thought you were attractive (and would want to approach), but probably thought you had other options.

 

Females, for the most, have the power in the situation because they have a vagina.

I'm nerdy/geeky/dorky.

 

 

I'm a science fanatic. I love physics. I'm a gamer. I love pokemon, Star Wars, harry potter... If a guy took me on a date to comic con I'd probably die of happiness. Basically all the normal nerdy, geeky things make me giddy.

 

 

I'm awkward but not shy, I'm silly, always happy and laughing, I'm pretty much just a huge goober. I don't care! I just do what makes me happy.

 

 

 

 

And I can understand that guys might assume a girl is taken, it's reasonable, but whenever I am on this site I try to tell guys to just break away from that assumption. If you always assume the girls taken, you're gonna pass up a lovely girl who would be happy to get to know you.

Well there's truth in that. It's how we've evolved. Women chose their mates, because they have to know the man is their rock, stable and loyal...traditionally speaking.

 

However, I find myself having to filter out the weeds, because there are too many broken girls out there that ruin their own relationships. All the girls out there that didn't know what they wanted and broke many hearts can't really and shouldn't ask the question ,"Where are all the good men at?" because you made them into players. That's not to say males don't do this, conversely.

Not to ruin the moment of earnest and clarity, but you seem to be a woman after my own heart. I'd love to go to Comic Con some day (well either in San Diego or NY). Also, I use the word goober quite liberally. Haha.

Honestly, I don't know if I would be either. I support the moral codes and discipline of the Jedi Order, but I could never live without romance or passion. Haha. I'd be somewhere in the middle.

Well, it doesn't do much good, because if you don't have a subscription you can't message people except in threads. I may get a subscription just to add new friends and people to talk to about this sort of thing.

Anyway, let's get back on track with the topic.

 

Man, I'm pretty sure it's not that more men like women, I think it's just that men are more likely to approach than women are.

 

100 guys may hit on a woman after a breakup, but 100 women might like a guy and never even say anything. I used to be so oblivious in high school. All these girls liked me and I had no idea til years later.

This happens A LOT. Kinda sad really. Sometimes I think about how many people are in bed at night thinking of someone else who is thinking of them too because no one had the balls to speak up :(.

 

That's why I make my feelings known pretty fast and understandably for those of the male gender who aren't mind readers.

Of course I can. There's also when a woman "hints" but she doesn't know what she wants and she sends you mixed signals. Sometimes it's out of frustration, but sometimes its clearly done on purpose.
