arcobb Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Hi everyone... a poem to share with everyone... -------------------------------------- There's nothing here that I can see There's nothing here that I can keep There's nothing here but broken dreams There's is nothing here not even peaceful sleep And I keep on walking through the pitch black night down this winding stairway looking for some light But there's nothing here but lonely voices There's nothing here I hear the angels cry There's nothing here over tragic choices There's nothing here where old men die because it's soft and warm and it feels so good that I just can't move though I wish I could There's nothing here but expectation There's nothing here but wasted time There's nothing here just mad frustration There's nothing here there's nothing left to find... except a way out

Author arcobb Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 Thanks everyone for your comments. I do understand that the poem has a dark side, however it's intention comes from the notion that there comes a time when we must move on. For me I have spent a majority of the summer feeling hurt, depressed, generally feeling like a loser. The idea is we hold on to the past, going over and over in our minds. But why? What more do we get by doing so? Is there a reason to keep going back to the past? In the poem answers there is nothing here but expectation, wasted time, mad frustration. No more reason to keep going on and on with the past in my mind. Nothing more to be learned or gain by doing so. I think at some point we must realize this in our own life to be "over" a bad relationship. It feels good to put the past in the past and know you have learned from it, but let it be in the past; look for "a way out" and start looking forward again. So to me it is extremely positive thing to say there is nothing here anymore and it is time to move on and explore the world again, to be excited and curious about new ideas and possibilities. Again I appreciate your input, I just wanted to offer an explanation some words I find healing to me. Take care!
