I'm probably being a little dramatic because I hate making phone calls anyway- but that's a different topic altogether.

This afternoon I have to call a graduate school professor to touch base, since I will be applying to his program for next fall. I have already bitten the bullet and called the Graduate Advisor, another professor in the department, who was encouraging, but he said I still needed to contact this other guy who is more specific to my area of interest.

This professor is very well known in his field, and I have seen him at conferences, so I know he's a normal, goofy person.

Still, I am nervous. I am coming from a background a bit different from the one I want to go in to, and his recommendation would make me a shoo-in.

I know I can make it in the program and be successful. I just have to get in.

Augh.

I'll probably get his answering machine anyway.

Just relax. :) And be yourself. Email (for me) is the optimal communication tool.

Unfortunatly this dude hates his e-mail. Tried it twice!

Guess I have to suck it up and call. Graduate schools don't want no scaredy cat! But I wish they did. :D
