USMCHokie
You have interestingly specific ideas on how a guy should dress there, TBF. But the specific points are what makes it helpful. What do you mean when you say the haircut should have movement? I googled "haircut with movement" but the search results didn't help. Movement. No movement. TBF can correct me if I'm wrong. Els
Female science nerd, ideally. Eh. If that were the case, IMO just be clean, neat, and casual, and focus on other things like your career/school, speech, learning new skills, etc, instead. I'm a grad student in a hard science field, so I think I'm reasonably qualified to speak as a member of the demographic. :p Granted we're all different, but most nerds I know aren't too bothered about fashion. Good body still always helps, though.
Author DannyMason
I want to thank Gunny376 and GravityMan for posting a lot of good food for thought. That's the thing about in-depth high quality info; often all there is to say in response is "Whoa, that's some in-depth high quality info, there!" Thanks guys! I'll keep all of it in mind. Star Gazer
Straight leg or loose skinny jeans with a tapered button down short sleeve shirt. Ray Bans, a good haircut with movement and if you can carry them off, canvas shoes with no socks, for the summer. If you were a man, I'd mount you. Yes, yes, and yes. That said, so long as a guy wears clothes that fit and don't include an Affliction (or similar) shirt or all white adidas... I'm usually okay. I can mould his style.
USMCHokie
Yes, yes, and yes. He just needs to lose the socks.
Pyro
I've seen this phrase around here before but I'm kinda missing out on the joke. What's the story? I'll let Hokie fill you in.

Lixxy
Whatever he feels comfortable in, although my personal preference: T-shirt. Jeans. Trainers. I especially love Converse.
Author DannyMason
You'll be fine with bright colors. White is what you need to avoid. OK, I'll take your word for it.
Author DannyMason
Movement. No movement. TBF can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not understanding your no movement link. This is no movement to me. Well played. OK, so I'm guessing a hairstyle without movement is one that's been cemented in place with about eight pounds of gel?

fortyninethousand322
OK, so I'm guessing a hairstyle without movement is one that's been cemented in place with about eight pounds of gel? Well, my hairstyle doesn't have movement. But that's because I'm bald...
ThaWholigan
Well, my hairstyle doesn't have movement. But that's because I'm bald... Bald can work. I know a dude who sounds similar to how you describe yourself - he rocks his look well.
FitChick
Whatever you wear should be clean, in good condition and fit you. No baggy pants showing your arse crack.

I've actually grown to like the style very much. I no longer worry about wind blowing my hair around or having morning "bed hair".

Author DannyMason
BUMP! Okay, for the last six weeks or so I've been obsessively working on becoming more fashionable but it's been kind of an ordeal. I've been in private correspondence with several of Love Shack's beautiful and fashionable ladies who have given me a lot of good advice but I still have some general questions, so I thought I'd revive this perennially useful topic. OK, my first question is actually kind of embarrassing. I've been choosing the colors of my potential purchases based on my personal color analysis "season". The idea behind personal color analysis is that people have either warm or cool toned skin and different levels of contrast between the natural colors of their facial features. For instance if you have cool toned skin and lightly colored low-contrasting features you're a summer. That's me. I'm a summer. Now summers look best in soft cool colors. Basically your greens, blues, and purples. Good looking blue clothes are pretty easy to find. Greens are more complicated, but doable. Purple on the other hand is more of a challenge. I don't want to confine my wardrobe entirely to blue, green, and neutrals, but I don't really know how to pull off purple. Is there any type of shirt, shade of light purple, or other color to include with it that I could wear without "sending the wrong signal" about my sexual orientation? MissBee
I can't give fashion advice to someone I haven't seen, as people need to dress for their body type, personality and in styles that fit them. I know what I like when I see it. I had an ex that I didn't like how he dressed, he also didn't really like it, and I gave him a wardrobe makeover. We went shopping and fitted styles that looked great on him...that was easier than just telling him any rules or tips without actually showing him. By going to the stores, having him fit different jackets, shirts, pants, colors, styles, we came up with what made him look the best and he basically knew from then the styles, cuts, and colors of clothing, as well as specific brands which made him look good. He was very thrilled that all the women at his work place were now complimenting him on his clothes. I felt like a proud mom lol...although I felt like I created a monster, as all of a sudden instead of throwing on anything, he started spending lots of time coordinating his outfits before we went out . So my suggestion is, find a female friend or relative you trust and whom you think would have a good sense of fashion and ask them to take you shopping. You don't even have to purchase anything, but just to try various clothing styles. You can also go to a men's clothing store, tell a sale's lady you're looking to upgrade your style after weightloss, and I'm sure she will be happy to help you try on a bunch of stuff and give you the "female opinion" on them.
