Hey guys, I'm not trying to look for meaning or anything like that because I know this girl is into me (and vice versa). I went on a 2nd date with a girl (an introvert) recently and this is just something that sparked my curiosity. This girl and I knew each other for 2 years (only through work, never hung out) and we've grown to really like each other, so I've worked up the courage to finally ask her out.

On the second date, long story short, we've watched a movie together, I made her laugh the entire movie, we had drinks, talked, then we were on our way back to the subway stop to go home. I was sure she was giving a signal for me to make a move since she walking very close to me (as in almost touching arm to arm). I finally worked up the courage to put my arm over her shoulder, to which I met no resistance, so all is good :).

Then I just happened to look at her, and I noticed a small fresh tear that ran from her eye. It wasn't like bawling or anything like that, just a trickle. I didn't want to ask her about it because I felt it would have been awkward and maybe ruin the heat of the moment. However, this sparked my curiosity and I wanted to ask the girls here. Have you ever shed a tear when a guy you're really into finally decides show his affection toward you?

She might have been hurt a lot in the past and isn't used to having a guy be nice to her. Or your armpit smells like onions.

No.

Maybe she had something in her eye. Or her contact lens was bugging her. Or her allergies were acting up. Or you had an onion pit. Or she was tired and her eyes were watering. Or the way you put your arm around her reminded her of someone that broke her heart.

So sweet, reminds me of the time someone I really liked just quietly took my hand while we were on a long walk, in the rain, to his car. I had been doing the same thing as her, trying to stay close to him in proximity as I could while walking. I didn't shed a tear but if I had it would have been out of joy. I know that night my heart felt like it was soaring. So maybe this girl was feeling that way when you put your arm around her. Next time you see her, you know what to look for, to do it again.:)

True, I suppose there could be a number of reasons why. I just thought it was probably because I made her happy. Sorry, I guess it was a stupid question and I thinking far too much into it lol. I didn't ask her about it anyway, we just carried on :). Thanks anyways guys, oh and I'm sure it wasn't smelly pits haha, I think she would have pulled away.

Could be a million reasons. I did that a few times when hubby and I were dating. I come from a very nondemonstrative family. We nevr touched. I don't remember ever being hugged even as a child. Dating wasn't really intimate even with the few relationships I had and my first fiancee. I'm not talking about sex but about tenderness. I didn't experience sincere tenderness until our first date when he put his arm around me. A tear slipped from my eye then too. I don't know if he noticed. We never said anything. I don't know why that tear happened when his arm felt so right - but it did. That was 30 years ago. Maybe she was feeling something similar and the tear just happened.

No. If a guy I'm into puts his arm around me, the last thing on my mind would be tears!

The violins of romance overcame her in the moment as she thought: all the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning, the burning hopes, the joy and idle tears that fall, ah sweet mystery of life at last I've found thee..

a few tears built in my eyes not long ago when my bf leaned his head over mine. I'm still in love with my ex...
