youngnlove89 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 He was telling me how he made a bucket load of money from overtime in the last two weeks, so I proceeded to tell him, "Okay money bags, whatchya gonna buy me for my birthday this year then?" [[My birthday is July 31st. We are going on a trip to my mom's house to go four wheeling, hiking, bowling and all that. It will be a fun time.]] He said "Well my birthday comes first, don't forget that. ;)" Then he wrote, "What would you like for your birthday?" Good thing right? Last 2 birthdays I got dinner and that was it. No card, no sentimental gift, no baked cake, no hand made CD, nothing. Dinner was nice, don't get me wrong, but I would like to open up a gift. I don't care about the price, it's the thought for me. I rather have a hand made CD of our favorite songs, a nice card with a sentimental paragraph in it, and home made dinner versus jewelry or anything. Then I didn't know how to answer what I wanted for my birthday, so I just said "surprise me". Honestly, I've never really liked getting presents. I always felt awkward and nervous when opening them up in front of the person. So this year, if he does get me something (which he better), it will be awkward for me. Is that normal? haha. Anyways, point is, this whole me telling him what I want/need seems to be working very well versus just expecting it.
T3h L337 d00d Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I hope you told him everything you just put here. He should make you a mix "tape" and write you a love letter. He could give it to you while you eat the home made dinner.
Author youngnlove89 Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 So, you are back together?? We've been back together since February.

He isn't like that. He kinda can be emotionally constipated when it comes to feelings. As far as showing them, he is fine.

Lady, communication is key in any relationship, we men are simple beings and most of us don't have the ability to read minds I am a person who has attention for the details but there are many people (women and men) who are not that way, if you need this kind of details you should be totally upfront with your boyfriend so he knows what are your expectations! 1

therhythm Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 So is he! What would you expect your gf to say? That the details around your birthday present are very important for you (while not the present itself). That you like to feel that the person who has given you that present has put some though and love on it... you don't need to tell him that he needs to do that.. he will get the message 1
