Sun Devil Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I am considering mail order brides. I am tired of these games that women put up and have been told that foreign women dont do it as much. What are your experiences with them and do you know anyone who had success with them
Sweetgirl28 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Don't do it. I honestly don't know a single mail order bride story that ended happily. Most of these women are after a ticket to the west. Although they're willing to go through a lot of trouble to marry someone, they will get a divorce once they get their permanent visa. Apart from their potentially wrong intentions, the cultural differences are quite hard to overcome. I'm not sure what countries you're looking into but you must deal with a language barrier and foreign habits.
TaraMaiden Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 And money. Lots, and lots of money. Lots. No - LOTS. 1
Pompeii Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Lol. You want to get married at 24? To a girl who can't even speak English? Lol What the **** is wrong with you? Watch this. This is what I think of that. 3
sillyanswer Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I am considering mail order brides. Which foreign languages do you speak? 1
carhill Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 What are your experiences with them and do you know anyone who had success with them I have/had experience with international dating, but was never involved in 'mail order bride' type stuff. I came to know a number of men, in the dozens, who married women from other countries and either K1/K3'd them or expat'ed and now live in those countries with their spouse. Most of my experience is with ladies in the FSU/CIS but I did also travel to western Europe and Asia and had limited experience with a few ladies in South America, Brazil in particular. Bottom line? They're people, just like us. The main difference is culture and, for some, economics. The lady I came closest to marrying, bucking the economics trend, lived quite comfortably, lacked little and worked as an ER doctor at a local hospital. At most, I spent about two weeks with her during the holidays one year and experienced much of her daily life. Like I said, people, just like us. The main difference was cultural and, at the time, the general economic climate of the country. If you're looking for an 'easy lay', a hooker is a lot cheaper. I spent thousands on travel expenses during the years I was looking overseas and most of the guys I know who married foreign ladies were well into five figures (meaning 10K-50K) by the time they got married. It's not a cheap pursuit. Good luck.
will1988 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 how did you make the jump from wanting to bang a hooker to wanting to be married to a woman who only wants you for your money and citizenship? You are 24 my friend... I'm 24 also, but ive been dating someone for 4 years... so a bit different. Why get married now when you've had no sex life at all? Explore a little first...
Maleficent Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Lol. You want to get married at 24? To a girl who can't even speak English? Lol What the **** is wrong with you? Watch this. This is what I think of that. well. They look smart...
CarrieT Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I posted this in another thread, but here is what happened to a very good friend of mine... Be careful what you wish for.... I have a very good friend who did this mail-order bride thing. He went through the sites and found a Philipino girl. They Skyped for almost a year. He went and visited her to make sure there was a connection and that she was real. He spent a lot of money setting up a household for her and brought her over. They had a lot in common and she was gorgeous. They would play video games and have lots of sex. Then one day, I got the call at 3:00 a.m. because she was holding a knife to her neck and he couldn't get the knife away from her. Seemed he had had to hide all of the knives in the house because she was always threatening herself. We called 911 and had her hospitalized for three days. Turned out her family had set her up on the sites to get her away from them and that she already had a three-old child they were taking care of and hoping the rich, white American would take with the bride. She was barely 20 and he is 35. It took him almost two years to get divorced and they were only married for two months. Again, be careful what you wish for...
SuperGeek Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 That story totally freaked me out!!! I bet it happens all the time too. I posted this in another thread, but here is what happened to a very good friend of mine...
Carenth Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 What the bloody hell, went from wanting a hooker to looking into human trafficking. Keep sliding down that slope. All you will end up doing is spending a ton of money for someone who is more than likely forced against their will to be sold to you for money. You are essentially looking into a slave trade. "Mail Order Bride" is a nice dress up term to try and disguise what it actually is. You seriously want to try and buy someone?
