henderson14 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I got an invite to a family wedding, but I don't have a date to bring. However, my relatives side of the family is from where I live, so I think it would be a good opportunity to meet someone. I've been single for a long time and only meet women at bars, but the thought of going to this wedding alone kind of bums me out.
fishtaco Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Man, I go stag all the time when I was single. It's not a big deal. Remember, you can hit on the waitress too. 1
Keenly Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Don't go to a wedding with the intention of meeting some one. When you don't, you will have already placed expectations on the event, and you will be let down. Go to the wedding because you want to go to the wedding. If you don't, don't go. 3
FitChick Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 If you want to meet a woman, go alone. You are more likely to be approached. You can approach using the perfect opening line, "Are you a friend of the bride or the groom?" If you went with a platonic female friend, people would think she was your girlfriend. 1

Even though you should never shy away from going stag anywhere, because opportunity can happen when you least expect it, you can't do anything with the intention and expectation of hooking up. It'll happen when it happens. The only things you need to focus on are: 1) you're having a good time 2) there are people (not just women) that you'll be meeting for the first time 3) be friendly and actually go meet those new people.
