PogoStick Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Several times on LS someone has said that women go to the bar for sex. I'd like to hear more details about women at bars, especially from the women! Here are some topics: I commonly hear girls complain that meeting men at a bar doesn't work well. That suggests to me they are not just looking for sex. Are some women hoping to meet a guy for a relationship? Drinking bar vs dance club Girls (not with a guy) at a sports bar on UFC night Group of girls (3-5), is it just girls night or do they want to meet guys too? The girl drinking alone at a bar. She must be waiting for attention?
AutumnRose1974 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The girl drinking alone at a bar. She must be waiting for attention? That's what my mother used to say, that if you were a female sitting at the bar by yourself, it makes you look like an easy pick-up. She 76, BTW. I also have a male friend, 72, who used to bartend on the side, and he told me something similar, about when a woman drinks so much she puts her head down on the bar. IMO, getting drunk in public makes anyone, male or female, look trashy and cheap. There are so many ways to have a good time that don't involve alcohol.
KatZee Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I go to the bar with other girls for happy hour to get drunk for cheap. We dance, have fun, laugh, take pictures together. We don't go for attention, we don't go to act like whores, we don't go to pick up men. We go for a night out on the town, to have fun, get out of the normal routine of life, see some new sights, etc.

That suggests to me they are not just looking for sex. Are some women hoping to meet a guy for a relationship? I have met several ex's at a bar. Wasn't there to "hook up" but certainly a social setting is good for socializing! Drinking bar vs dance club At a dance club the music is loud and the men tend to be....more aggressive. Not interested in meeting men while at a club. Girls (not with a guy) at a sports bar on UFC night I like watching UFC but you'd never catch me at a bar just for UFC. Group of girls (3-5), is it just girls night or do they want to meet guys too? My friends and I are generally pretty nice and outgoing so we'll be open to conversation but not necessarily looking to hookup with random men we meet at a bar. I don't anyway. The girl drinking alone at a bar. She must be waiting for attention? Unfortunately since arriving in Italy I have had to grab a drink solo while hoping to run into friendly faces. I wasn't there for attention, just the whisky. 10 characthers
Phantom888 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I dated a woman who used to go to bars alone for 10+ years. She was a drunk, and got raped on numerous occasions. She did not respect herself, and end up having one night stands with random people. I felt sorry for her. I broke up with her because that's not the kind of woman I want to have a future with, even though her drunkenness happened years ago.
clia Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I commonly hear girls complain that meeting men at a bar doesn't work well. That suggests to me they are not just looking for sex. Are some women hoping to meet a guy for a relationship? Yes, of course. Drinking bar vs dance club I don't understand the question. Sometimes you want to dance, sometimes you want something more low key like a sports bar or a pub. It just depends on the mood and the night. Girls (not with a guy) at a sports bar on UFC night Girls like sports, too. They also sometimes like watching them out at bars. Shocking, I know. Group of girls (3-5), is it just girls night or do they want to meet guys too? Totally depends. Some girls in the group may be single and may want to meet guys; other girls in the group may be married so they aren't looking to meet guys. The intent may be a "let's get together and catch up" night, or it may be a more "let's get together and meet some new people" kind of night. Just totally depends. The girl drinking alone at a bar. She must be waiting for attention? No. Maybe she just wanted to go out and have a drink and couldn't find any friends to go with her. Or maybe she felt like going by herself. There's no crime in that. Maybe she is in town on business by herself, or on vacation by herself and didn't want to sit in her hotel room alone. Women go to bars and clubs for all kinds of reasons -- to dance, have drinks, hang out with friends, meet people (men and women), listen to bands, watch sports, try different microbrews, eat dinner, etc. It's really no big mystery.
