We were married in CA and have lived here for over ten years. But then hubby takes a job in IL and our problems became much bigger. So we are now discussing divorce but I can't afford attorney and suggested mediator. Here's my question: I found out that he can become a resident of IL in 90 days. That means he can soon file over there. But with no kids or assets, what does he gain by filing over there? Or what do I loose if he would to file there first? Even if the mediator here in CA would start our case tomorrow the case still wouldn't be filed here until we agree on everything, right?

ANY advice or help on this is appreciated. Thanks!
