Or can attractive people stay attractive? Of course all bets are off when you're old enough to be dried up like a prune, but there is a life time between here and there.

I always hear people proclaiming, "looks fade!!!! So don't base attraction on that....". But you know, some people there was never anything to fade, some people start out bad and get worse, some people start out nice and then fade out like a $.01 cent light bulb, some people maintain what they got seemingly forever and some people even get better with time.

I think some people have an agenda to further their own self with what they say in trying to sway what other people should want in a mate. Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Skin becomes less elastic, hair gets greyer, you get wrinkless.

However I think if you've steadily maintained your weight over the years, stopped smoking in time and lucky enough with your skin you probably prolong the youthful looks for longer than the average person.

I also think that basing attraction on looks is not enough but it needs to be part of the equation.

Are you arguing that looks don't fade?

With a healthy lifestyle, it is possible to look attractive for quite awhile, but attractive at 50 is not the same as attractive at 20.

Luckily, as we age, we start to find people in our same age range attractive.

The trick is finding someone you care about beyond looks. That way, when you both get grey and wrinkly there will still be attraction based on your emotional connection.

I dunno...

I recently found my meager collection of photos (most of my history got destroyed in the Northridge earthquake) and when I showed them to my fiance, he remarked that while I was cute in my 20s, I was almost unattractive in my 30s, and even I believe I look better in my 40s.

Some things - like a fine wine - DO get better with age!

I think it depends on how you look after yourself. My uncle in his mid 50s never smoked or drank and has been fit and active his whole life. He looks great. Looking at images of my grandfather when he was the same age (he smoked like a chimney, drank a lot and lived a sedentary lifestyle) and the difference is astonishing.

Also I'd say genes play a role. Unfortunately if you're the George Costanza type things are only going to go downhill. However, I think many women would find people like Richard Gere and George Clooney attractive today. For me, I think Meryl Streep looks amazing and she's in her 60s! In "It's Complicated" she and Alec Baldwin are meant to be the same age, and look it, except she's 10 years older than him!

Me personally, I plan to look after myself my whole life. I spend most weekends in the outdoors staying fit, I avoid fast food, and don't smoke or drink.

Interesting.

I showed my bf some of my modeling pictures from when I was around 18-20 and he said I look better now at 34. He remarked that I looked like a little kid in the pictures, but now I'm beautiful.

Rose-colored glasses?

Yes Carrie, it's the same for me. When I showed my exes photos of me in my late teens/early 20s, they all say that they barely recognize me and not in a good way.

Some people age a lot better than others, based on living habits and genetics. Some people actually look better as an older person than when they were younger. If you look at photos of some of the popular stars today compared to their photos of when they were younger, they actually look better now than when they were younger, because their hair style, makeup, and style choices are more becoming. Some may be more into fitness now than they were when younger. A lot of things go into a person's level of attractiveness that can improve with age.

He was likely sincere, Iris.

I've seen youthful baby fat give way to gorgeous cheekbones as some women age.

They've also gained knowledge of what makeup and hairstyles are most flattering and have the resources to get both.

They often dress better and the years in the gym show.

One of the prettiest women I've seen on this site is in her 40s :

D-Lish is just a heart breaker.
