music_lover Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Hi everyone, so I was in Europe a month ago and met this guy (also from the US) at the place I was staying at. We didn't talk too much at the beginning of meeting but on our second night, a big group of us had some drinks and went out to the clubs. We ended up dancing and making out in the club that night. We were both pretty drunk at this point but after dancing with me, he ended up kissing another girl from our group. I know for a fact that the other girl has no interest in him as she told me and she just got out of a serious long-term relationship. I didn't make much of that night and passed it off as "just having a drunken good time." The next day, the guy and I hung out again within a group and we had some more conversations and started to joke a bit more with each other. There were definitely some instances where I felt a strong vibe from him. There was no talk of last night at all though. On our fourth day, he was preparing to leave and I had one more day. When we said goodbye, he put his email and number in only my phone. The next day, I sent him an email with just a picture of a mountain scenery attached saying "This is what you and your friend missed for leaving a day early." He emailed the next day with an attached picture of a busy street at his next destination saying "It's ok, we were busying partying with cooler people in Paris." He then added me and my two friends I'm traveling with on Facebook. I never responded back to his last email and I haven't communicated with him in a month. I just came back from traveling last week and he is still studying abroad in Europe until early July. So what I'm wondering is, what does him giving me his number mean? Does he actually have an interest in me or is he just playing with me since he's still in Europe partying it up and doing who knows what. And despite the fact I've only met this guy for 3 days, I could see myself getting to know him better. Should I eventually text him? I'm usually very bad at initiating things because I'm afraid of rejection although I'm slowly trying to overcome it. Anyways, thanks for any advice!
writergal Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Your post reminds me of those movies with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight. No one except this guy can tell you why he gave you his phone number, email address and added you to his Facebook page. We can only make assumptions that could be right or wrong. Are you in your 20s or younger since you mentioned he will study abroad in Europe this year? All you can do at this point is to resume communication with him if you really like him and want to be friends with him. You have his phone number, email and Facebook friendship so you have 3 ways to keep in touch. Maybe ask him how his travels are going and share what you've been up to for the past month as a conversation ice-breaker. And let nature take its course from there. Maybe you can save up money to go visit him abroad if things progress to that stage, but for now, just keep it casual and friendly and find out what he's been up to. Long distance relationships (and friendships) can be tricky. You only knew each other for 3 days according to your post, before you went your separate ways. That's not long enough to really know someone, even without an ocean dividing you. Just email or call or Facebook him and start the communication again, and see if he responds.
