Million.to.1 Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 This article cracked me up.. .....as well as highlighting some very interesting points that I think are quite true. 5 Ways Modern Men Are Trained to Hate Women | Cracked.com Are all men really insecure, mindless robots who are 'programmed' by the media and pop culture? Strong, decent, intelligent men rise above this crap. It's just a shame that the stupid ones are usually the loudest ones, too. Thoughts? 1
Woggle Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Both men and women become bitter and angry after being hurt and burned one too many times. It's not like women are immune to hating the opposite sex. It hurts to invest your emotions into somebody and then get royally screwed. The misandrists are the loudest women as well but I don't think they represent the majority. The ones who like men and can have happy relationships just tend to be more quiet. 1
Ripnet Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Here is one of the comments on the site which I laugh at. Just can't take the article or women who think like this seriously. I'm not going to dress a certain way because of what boys think of me. I don't make myself look pretty to get the attention of boys. I do it because it makes ME feel good. Sorry if I give you a boner, guys. Maybe you shouldn't be staring at my breasts in the first place. Ugh, perverts. Unfortunately, I'm also not a token.. A guy won't get me by being "impressive". So if I unzipped my pants and let me penis stick out women wouldn't look or even stare? Come on now seriously partially exposing breasts and then calling men perverts.

Author Million.to.1 Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 (edited) Yes, the comment section is quite funny. But lets's not turn the conversation around. What do we think of the points made in the article itself? And for the record, I like men alot and am in a happy relationship. I just think this entitlement thing is an interesting point, especially when i read threads on here from the "can't get a date" "i'm too short for a GF" "Poor me, woman are so shallow" men. Edited June 22, 2013 by Million.to.1
Maleficent Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I didn't find this funny. I think there are some people who really think like this and that women somehow owe them. As far as women dressing a certain way and attracting a certain kind of attention, humphf...I'm so sick of this debate. I see nothing wrong with showing a little skin. Comparing cleavage to whiping your penis out? Seriously? 1
Keenly Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I'm not really what one would call "normal" but I don't really agree with or relate to any of the points made here. It almost just looks like an article written by an angry person , as I have never really seen whatever this person seems to see. 1
ltjg45 Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Well, considering how males in their 20s is either very successful with women or complete failures (rarely do you find a male in this age range who is in the middle), I can't argue that modern men, in general, does chase women as a prize. Either you are good at it and gets the prize......or you don't. There is a reason why PUA is used so much these days. The rest? I took it as a grain of salt. None of it applies to me. 1
hppr Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Yes, the comment section is quite funny. But lets's not turn the conversation around. What do we think of the points made in the article itself? I totally disagree with the whole thing, it sounds like what an angry woman would write about men. A guy could easily write every single one of those things about women and it would probably resonant with some people. For me the thing that has always bugged me about women is that I don't understand them.
hppr Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 "can't get a date" "i'm too short for a GF" "Poor me, woman are so shallow" men. Yes, because there are no conceited women on Earth
Els Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 It's just a shame that the stupid ones are usually the loudest ones, too. Pretty much my thought about everything, really. 2
Ripnet Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 None of those things applied to me or the guys I have known over the years. Even when I lacked the social skills and confidence I never though I was entitled to anything. Yes some men complain they can't get even one date and that women are shallow but they are speaking from frustration and being emotionally hurt. 1
hppr Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Are all men really insecure, mindless robots who are 'programmed' by the media and pop culture? Do you love men? Honest question. I LOVE women. I love talking to them, looking at them, I love the way they laugh, smell, dress, walk...like I said a total, frustrating, headaching mystery but I love them. And as a man I've never felt any of the things that article references, even when girls treated me like a fuggo outcast I still liked them.

I don't LOVE everyone of one gender. There are **holes in both parties. The quote I made there about men being mindless robots is not my opinion. As I stated, Many men aren't like this at all... The article is just an opinion piece that purpose is to entertain, right? ......but it's interesting to see how defensive men here are being to it.
Star Gazer Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I didn't read the whole thing, but I did agree with the comments about men feeling entitled to a hot chick, and women feeling like they owe it to men to be pretty. I never though I was entitled to anything. You have demonstrated otherwise in your short time on LS. 2

Strong, decent, intelligent men rise above this crap. It's just a shame that the stupid ones are usually the loudest ones, too. Thoughts? Yup. From a very young age, I decided I was going to emulate the lifestyle and attitude of Darkwing Duck. He was a real man. But, you know, a duck. I don't think it made me hate women though. It did make me want to get a duck shaped plane and a cool trike. I've been very disappointed that life didn't hand them to me on a silver platter, along with a cool sidekick like Launchpad. 2

The fact is that according to a number of studies, women show more skin and dress as a function of fertility. It is a subconscious means of trying to get pregnant. WASHINGTON — Women dress to impress when they are at their most fertile, researchers said Tuesday in a study they say shows that signs of human ovulation may not be as mysterious as some scientists believe. A study of young college women showed they frequently wore more fashionable or flashier clothing and jewelry when they were ovulating, as assessed by a panel of men and women looking at their photographs. “They tend to put on skirts instead of pants, show more skin and generally dress more fashionably,” said Martie Haselton, a communication studies and psychology expert at the University of California Los Angeles who led the study. Ovulating women dress to impress - Health - Women's health | NBC News I don't think what drives men is a sense of entitlement, it is biology. Those things we identify with beauty are really cues about health, fertility and the chances of successful reproduction. In a sense we are mindless robots, but due to biology, not TV. And women are no less immune to their biological urges than are men. We just have different urges. Are women being mindless robots when they show more skin due to ovulation? Of course! 2

sillyanswer Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Thoughts? When an article's points are emphasised or supported by links to reddit or freerepublic I stop taking it seriously and remember that cracked.com is an entertainment site. Sure, there are some interesting points there, but a lot of guff, too. 2
man_in_the_box Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I didn't read the whole thing, but I did agree with the comments about men feeling entitled to a hot chick, and women feeling like they owe it to men to be pretty. Humans feel entitled to all sorts of different things for no good reason. Its nothing gender specific.
carhill Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 For some reason I got fixated on Garfield. Anyway, it's quite possible society has been sending such messages through articles like this and other media for decades. I totally missed that memo, as did my parents. Oops. That would probably explain some of my life experiences. 'Unexpected' might be an apt word to describe them. 1
Revolver Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I've never seen any evidence of men being more "entitled" then women are
