dyermaker Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Basketball isn't going to make anyone taller. Neither will chastity. Unlike being gay <kidding!>, height isn't something you can choose. You're still young. Just roll with it. The worst that can happen is you'll get paid less. Originally posted by Merin2 ever heard "If you don't stop masturbating you'll go blind?" LMAO to be followed up with "Well, Can I do it until I need glasses?" Usually it's followed up with, "Uh, I'm over here."
Guest Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Don't get all off on "dangerous advice". I'm not sure what's more dangerous. Lying to him, and saying that the world is a fair accepting place, or telling him there ARE options in case he doesn't grow. Besides. Human growth hormones are taken by teenage boys (of course with parental consent, and often approval as well as by your family doctor, as well as a specialist) during the years they SHOULD be growing, but aren't.
moimeme Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I wasn't trying to make fun of this poster, or pick on him. Honestly, I really thought he was kidding that he would imagine masturbation to cause him to remain at 5'2. So, hey my bad. Different sense of humor for me.. and thought he was "playing around" when he said it. OK, cool. Let me just warn you that people will post here asking us if they're pregnant. And they're not kidding. Folks who haven't had enough information about whatever their problem is will post the wildest questions sometimes!
CurlyIam Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Ok,when I was 16, I was the tallest in my class - 5'5. I do confess I loved it , hehe! After one summer, one of the tinneis boys in highschool came back waaaaay waaaayyy taller. I am NOT lying. Between 15 and 19, boys tend to explode as far as hight is concerned. I have seen it happen. So I guess it's a bit too soon to worry, although I do understand your concern. Wait a few more years before deciding to do something drastic. Maybe you won't need to. And just to ease your pain: I have seen some very attractive short male who were scoring big time! It is not a matter of height, it's a matter of attitude! Always!!!

The irony, of course, is that YOU are the one emotionalizing the issue ("Ankle biter"...etc ). I suspect you aren't very tall yourself, you seem embittered. Who knows HGH is only prescribed by RESPONSIBLE pediatricians to alleviate hypocrine situations in growing kids, where issues such as decreased bone density and abnormal height present problems, NOT to supplement a normal level of HGH. That is extremely dangerous, as it can lead to abnormal enlargement of the liver, spleen, and pancreas. Crack a book, and educate yourself. Only people who have a problem with being short, are short people.
Dakini Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Originally posted by Guest If you're really concerned about your height, taking human growth hormones may add a couple of inches onto your height. 5'2 is extremely short, especially for a man. I agree with Pap - I find this kind of talk extremely dangerous - life threatening in fact - especially to someone who is only 15 and has access to the Internet! Diesel: Please do not start taking and drugs without having a complete physical exam by your physician! Be informed.... here is what you should expect: When you do see a physician, she should perform the following tests an a preliminary screen: a hand and wrist x-ray to test for bone density, complete height / weight analysis, information from your mother about her pregnancy and your birth weight, and a complete blood screen with endocrine analysis, including Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). If any of these tests show potential markers, further tests will be conducted that will hopefully diagnose the cause of the growth deficiency.
