theonlyjuan Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Addiction! Does anyone feel like they would if they were trying to kick an addiction? Like people say NC is going cold turkey for the heart. I have quit smoking, drugs in the past. I think it has become useful to me now, because I know what it's like to give something up. If you quit smoking you would rid your home of all cigarettes, right? It's the same as getting rid of gifts from ex, photos, texting, FB, phone calls. When I quit smoking I had replace the cigarettes with things that would occupy my mind. The same as you have to do when you break up. You have to occupy yourself and get the thought of them out of your mind. So, don't relapse and break your NC. Some days it is very tempting but it is not worth it. After a while of not smoking, seeing cigarettes does not tempt me anymore and the smell makes me feel sick. After time has passed, seeing your ex won't bring up the same emotions anymore. The smell thing doesn't apply, at least I hope not I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, but it helps me 2
todreaminblue Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 true......i want so badly to give up smoking.......and i have cut back......its hard when cigarettes are around me 24 7...as far as no contact goes....i think it is imperative to have a period of no contact when you break up or try to move on from someone......deb
