morgenstern1 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Hi! I'm really confused and would greatly appreciate some advice. I had a first date with a guy last week and had a great time. Chemistry was amazing and he even suggested sex which was a surprise but not really uncommon for NYC. I refused the offer but we kissed a couple of times. Other than the sex invitation, he was extremely nice and respectful. I sent him a flirty thank you message to which he replied right away (but kind of ignoring the flirty part). He also emailed on Saturday to tell me again that he had a great time, would love to see me soon and that he will contact me 'next week'. Well he hasn't contacted me yet. Also, his emails and texts are always so formal (emails come from his work email, sometimes with a signature ?!). I find this strange after the intimate things we discussed in person. Could this be because of the age difference - he is older than I normally date and he said he doesn't text (...). I was so excited after that first date and now I feel very uncertain and disappointed. Is it too early? Thanks in advance!!!!!!! Edited June 19, 2013 by morgenstern1
truth_seeker Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 He just wanted a one night stand. He has no respect for you. He is seeing other women while he is stringing you along.
Author morgenstern1 Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Thanks! You might be right. I am seeing others too but the part I don't understand is why would a guy say several times that he'd like to meet again if he is not interested? Edited June 19, 2013 by morgenstern1
Feelin Frisky Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Thanks! You might be right. I am seeing others too but the part I don't understand is why would a guy say several times that he'd like to meet again if he is not interested? Women do that quite often too. It's avoiding any sharp tones or feelings and just saying what is hoped the other person wants to hear. Let it roll off you.
tstreit15 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Although you said no by saying he would contact you again he was hoping it might change your mind and make you think that he cares about you, thus leading to sex. If a guy really likes you he would have contact you shortly after the date and set up another by now.
Author morgenstern1 Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Yes, I agree:) Thank you, I will try to let this go.
Author morgenstern1 Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Yes, this is where I am confused he emailed me a day after (Sat) saying that he would contact me this week but its Wed already. Although you said no by saying he would contact you again he was hoping it might change your mind and make you think that he cares about you, thus leading to sex. If a guy really likes you he would have contact you shortly after the date and set up another by now.
lookingforlovenyc Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Clearly you already know the answer. Because it started out like this, you already know it's just something sexual that he wants. Unless you want the same thing, it's not going to work because relationships have to start out on the right foot or they just start out plain awkward. I'd say if you don't want a strictly sexual relationship with him, lose him now.
