ltjg45 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 For those who are regulars here, some of you may realize my previous thread where I mentioned about showing interest in a woman who is taller than me. Well, to continue that, I spoke some more with her last night and I got some questions as to what I should do. To put it bluntly, she is a Russian/Ukrianian lady in Odessa. Very attractive, taller than me, no children, never married, she is OKish in English. I met her on a Russian dating site. She has shown interest to me as well, for what it is worth. Last night, we have talked concerning many different topics and I like how she is neutral on most matters like I am. I talked to her about having children, she is fine with having none but she would prefer having 1-2 at some point. I'm the same in that regard. She has also mentioned that Odessa in Ukraine is relatively poor when compared to most other places around the world. That is just a mere taste of what we have spoke about last night. However, my biggest concerns is that, while I love talking to her, doing so on that Russian dating site is costly, needless to say. I rather continue our conversation elsewhere like, on Facebook or Skype. From what I'm understand from her responses, she has both. I tried finding her name on Skype last night but was unsuccessful despite she has spelled her username to me one letter at a time to get around the site's filtering system (I hate that the most. I'm not rich. Sheesh) so I don't know if she spelled it wrong or I screwed up.....or she doesn't even have the Skype account. When that failed, I gave me my last name on Facebook and told her what to look for to find my account. She told me she will look for me. This was around 12 AM this morning and she has told me yesterday she has to leave for work an hour later. She sounds like a great woman. She mentioned that she has to get a work visa just to come to the U.S. and that will take 1-2 years, which I'm cool with that. In the meantime, I just want to keep contact with her without killing my wallet. Since she has my Facebook name and I'm sure my FB account there is rather unique, how long should I wait before I give up and start looking for other women? If nothing has happened, should I spend a little more on that site and get back in contact with her and see what has happened and any other ways to find cheaper contact for me? I'm just curious as to what to do. I'm sure she is either working right now or getting off shortly so, by the time I'm done with whatever I'm doing today and get back home around 5-6 PM EST, she would most likely be back online on that dating site.

Sounds like there is a high chance of them having a bunch of fake profiles on their and trying to get people to keep chatting just to bring in money. Personally I wouldn't ever take this approach just out of fear that whatever was presented was to just get the girl to north America with no genuine interest... Really hard to say, maybe someone else here has experiences with these kinds of sites. Your subject line is kind of cryptic so I hope the thread gets the attention you need.

So looks like I did get scammed and the effort/money was wasted. *sigh* Back to the drawing board. I don't expect things to change but if it does, I will add it.

Not exactly bright on my end. Sometimes I really do question how good my own intelligence really is. I may be dumber than I give myself credit for. Actually, I'm sure of it.
