Andrese Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Hello All, I'm a total noob when it comes to dating. I'm very sure that my potential date might inexperienced at dating as well. I think that minigolf and maybe a bite to eat at a simple but healthier restaurant would be a good idea. My only reservation is that I'm a golfer, so I'm afraid that going minigolfing will seem selfish, because golfing is one of my favorite things to do. Is this a decent first date idea, or should I reconsider (any ideas?)?
MidwestUSA Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 If she definitely doesn't like the idea, then come up with another plan. But if she's up for it, take the time to "teach" her how to golf. Don't use the opportunity to show off, but keep things light and cute. It sounds like fun; I woulda been up for it (30 years ago )! Ps: if she kicks your butt, don't go all pouty face on her, LOL!
Author Andrese Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 To be honest, I HOPE she beats me. Then I have nothing to worry about. But thanks for the encouragement. And I won't show off. Usually if I do that, I suck more anyway .
carhill Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 IME, mini-golf isn't a skilled sport, it's a social activity and, generally, a lot of fun. It also leaves lots of room for physical interaction, always a plus in dating. I'd suggest doing that and get her input on some options for a 'bite to eat'. Leave the healthy eating discussion/ideas for a future date. You'll survive one Polish dog. It's OK. Tip: Refrain from over-thinking and go with the flow. Dating is supposed to be fun. 1
MidwestUSA Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 LOL, I wasn't referring to it as a skilled sport, and now I have to go find a Polish dog. Maybe some French fries too.
carhill Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I was keying off your description of your golf course skills for my response. I'll use an example: I have track skills and raced a track car for many years and took professional driving courses to do that. I'm pretty good at it. However, if I were going on a date and suggested the local go-kart track where one pays a few bucks and plays bumper cars driving around I wouldn't be thinking or applying my racing skills to the date process, rather thinking about how we'd have fun on four wheels galavanting around and what we'd do after. My focus would be on my date partner, with the activity being secondary. I think you have a great plan, so execute it and see what happens. Remember, forestall outcome dependency. Enjoy the process.
veggirl Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 It's a perfectly fine date. My first date with my bf was mini golf then hookah.
