slinkcat
Hi, I met someone through online dating, the first 6 weeks were great. He was very tentative, caring and loving. Msgsd me day and night, sent love quotes, poems and made me feel very special. But things started going wrong a few weeks ago. He's become distant, I barely see him, he doesn't hardly txt and when he's with me I feel like he doesn't want to be here. It started about the time he started a cycle on Steroids. After a week I noticed a change, he doesn't seem to care about anything including me and its been very difficult and upsetting. He's not the same person I met and I ended it on Saturday night. He tells me he loves me but he feels lost and I know its the roids after reading up on it. I rejoined a dating site yesterday but all in the hope of getting a reaction out of him but he's just gone into a shell. He won't fight for me or us even though he says he loves me. Should I give him the chance to come off them? Or should I just walk away? Should I give him the ultimatum of me or the roids? Thanks for reading :-)

henderson14
How do you know its the steriods? He just might not be into you and you using steriods as an excuse. Steriods are supposed to increase your sex drive because of the increase in testosterone. He's just not into you. Its not the steriods.
GB25
LOL its not the steroids, yes they can make you prone to aggression but thats if you are already an angry, aggressive person His change in mood has absolutely nothing to do with the roids, its not heroine or meth. If anything steroids increases sex drive and libido and he wont be able to keep his hands off you.. so yeah, its something within the relationship thats wrong, not the roids

If anything steroids increases sex drive and libido and he wont be able to keep his hands off you.. so yeah, its something within the relationship thats wrong, not the roids Sorry, but you dont know what you are talking about... Anabolic steroids WILL cause all kinds of mood swings and behavioral issues. Yes, aggression is one, but also intense periods of sadness and "up and down and hot and cold" type of behavior. Do you know that male sex hormones can and will convert to Estrogen and if left untreated will cause the worst case of male PMS you will ever see? Steroids have been linked to suicidal behavior as well.. Do some research..Its been well documented. I think a lot of the reasons that football players, professional wrestlers and the like have so many problems after retirement is the comedown from intensive steroid use. I know the NFL tests, but dont think for one minute that there arent players on the juice..They dont get that big by food and exercise alone. Very few people can take steroids without some negative behavioral qualities..Some roid rage, others become withdrawn. Some people also report that they lose most of their drive for anything other than laying around, going to the gym and screwing... TFY

tricolors
you are so wrong it hurts..but ill leave it at that Yeah, no, he's not wrong. Steroids can cause intense sadness and depression. I'm around a number of people who have / do use them, they talk about it. Aside from that, just google "steroids and depression" and there are many legitimate sources of information for this. https://www.google.com/search?q=steroids+and+depression https://www.google.com/search?q=steroids+and+mood+swings So, please stop with your nonsense about saying steroids can't cause moodswings, it's very well documented.

tricolors
Aromatisation (testosterone ---> estrogen) is also a very real thing with anabolic steroid users...combating aromatisation involves using a class of drugs just for that purpose. Aromatase - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So, listen to people who are telling you anabolic steroids 100 percent CAN be throwing your boyfriend off balance in his moods. It's not guaranteed they are, it could be anything, but it's possible.
crederer
I have no science to back me up but I've known a few people on steroids and it is/was difficult for them to get an erection. Could be the problem right there. Doesn't mean he doesn't get horny, means he can't perform and therefore doesn't try.

I mean they are often prescribed to people for a lot of injuries and conditions. And yes they do hve side effects. But is this a medication thing or is he using them for some other reason? I'm actually very happy, I have lots of energy and my libido goes through the roof. Talking tennis elbow in both arms here. Doubt it's the roids. He probably has other issues or he's just not that into you but doesn't want to hurt your feelings.

Yeah if they use too much for too long without proper post cycle then when they quit they are basically non-functional downstairs. Like the testosterone of a 90 year old man @ 25. Lots of people end up on them for life because of this.

SuperGeek
This only happens if the person taking the steroids isn't doing it right with a proper PCT (post cycle therapy) regimen. that's all I have to say about that. SuperGeek
that's sad. lots of males probably end up like this. if only they did research and patiently waited before they had all the facts. Steriods are supposed to increase your sex drive because of the increase in testosterone. He's just not into you. Its not the steriods. Ive read an awful lot about them and it can have major psychological side effects like depression and psychosis. Hes displaying all the symptoms. He locks himself away and goes into his own little world. He tells me he feels lost and he's detached from everything and everyone. Plus he still keeps messaging me. I've had friends who have experienced the same thing with their boyfriends when they have taken them so I know it is.

Someone who actually knows something about the real psychological effects! He has taken them on and off for 4 years and in that time become a complete introvert. He's shy and his libido has become non existent ( I've read it can go either way with this) part of me wants to walk away but he's confided so much in me and told me things he's not told anyone and I feel like Im abandoning him. He has had suicidal thoughts and Im worried about him x
