Noted. I was hoping to make a day out of it. The picnic will bring us to mid-afternoon. Any evening ideas?

I was also thinking about bringing a couple of flowers, is that too much? Maybe a few gerbera daisies.

The flowers are sweet :)

Regarding evening events... I'm just trying to think of something interactive... where you both an activity to share where you can talk but don't have to.

Are either of you artistic? How about those places where you paint ceramics?

If you are athletic, I'd have tons of suggestions...

Go cart racing? Arcade?

How about an improv show? Those are fun. Lots of crowd interaction too.

A few simple flowers, or a carnation to wear, is a great idea but don't go overboard. Things like huge bouquets, a dozen roses, etc, are too cliche' and may look like you're trying to "buy" her affection.

Underscore the "activity to share where you can talk but don't have to". If you can get onto a university campus and scan the bulletin boards in places like the student union, dining halls, or "commons" areas in academic buildings you may find interesting film series, discussion groups, lectures, etc.

In my area, many smaller municipalities and even organizations like churches and museums have no-charge or very low-cost outdoor concerts on summer evenings. Almost always local groups, and quality is all over the map - from poorly done covers of current top-40 tunes to well-done blues by folks who have played together for decades. But the events are often publicized only within the sponsoring suburb or institution, so you have to dig a little to find them.
