No, we broke up because of the distance and since we're both attending Universities in different countries there's no way to fix that. But the way I handled the breakup after that was pretty pathetic, I kept pestering her and I feel guilty about putting her through it when she clearly wanted space to move on.

Unless you torched her house or stalked her on streets you did what pretty much anyone in love does. Of course once few years down the road no one will even remember or care about this you two either chalk it up as lesson learned new experience and put it behind you.

I don't know, I just feel guilty and disappointed with myself. I aim to be a better person than the one I was. Maybe it will just pass in time. The bothering her while she was trying to get some space lasted for two months and we were never really rude nor cursed at each other. She just came across as sort of fed up when we talked and I understood that I needed to take a step back. Then I came back five days later in a weak moment and told her that I felt like she couldn't stand me. Of course she did not reply. (Or at least not at the point where I started NC, I did not check after that.)

Stuff like that message after five days really bothers me though, even though I know I should not dwell on it, it's just so pathetic. It's odd, it's like I became an entirely different person during that time. I'm usually actually kind of distant and maybe even somewhat cold and for some reason I became incredibly needy with her.
