Why did he take so long?

I can't figure this man out...

 

He always wants to be around me, and everytime I look around he's looking at me, and he makes conversation with other people easily but when he's with me, he's not as conversational.*

 

He watches me when I'm talking & laughing with other guys & his mood changes to annoyed.

 

Now the weird thing: The other day i was in his car with him and a friend of ours and I needed a lift home. It's on the way for him & he said "I'd take you home, but I was gonna go to football" which is in the opposite direction. The friend and I both said "that's ok go to football" but he kept saying "it's ok I'll go to football tomorrow", and "I really don't mind" and the friend kept saying "it's ok I'll take her home, go to football." but he still just sat there quietly thinking about it for a long time. He kept saying to our friend "are you sure?" knowing full well that she said she'd do it! Why did he take so damn long to decide?*

 

I get the impression he likes me, but after this i'm not so sure, because i figure he didn't even have to bring up his plan to go to football if he really wanted to drive me home. But then why did he make a point of thinking about it in front of me and making our friend keep saying "it's ok you go to football."

 

Can someone shed some light on that? I feel silly for asking & maybe i'm overthinking it BUT I was hoping to start showing some obvious interest and after this occasion I'm hesitant...

i have decided to follow this rule..i remain friendly and open as i am to everyone.....i try to engage the guy that I like in conversation....try to make him comfortable and relaxed....make myself approachable...swallow all my nerves............and if a guy after all that doesn't ask you out or make it known that he likes you ....he isn't into you enough to ask......that way there is no confusion...about does he or doesnt he.......its just cut and dried...he isnt interested......deb
