mammasita Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 If you are looking for something more than a hook up would you consider someone who has this as their "what are you looking for"? My better judgement tells me "hell no". Just wondering what your thoughts are......
Ordinaryday Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Usually people who say that ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SERIOUS but they want an easy out clause to dump anyone who does not catch their fancy - by saying up front "nothing serious" it allows them to easily dump a guy without feeling bad about it and the guy can't really say anything back because she told him upfront "nothing serious". what they usually mean is "nothing serious.... except with that ONE SPECIAL GUY" but I tell you, it is a HUGE CHALLENGE to be that one guy because often the reason the girl is single is unrealistic expectations "I want a guy who earns a six figure income and has a body like Dwayne Johnson and blah blah blah" without realising that most guys like that don't have to resort to OLD! 1

Wow! So not true.
Star Gazer Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Nope, wouldn't bother. I appreciate reading stuff like that in a profile though; it's honest, it makes it easy.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. I'm looking for a serious LTR. Saying *that* up front actually makes it easier to dump a guy who I'm incompatible with than saying I'm not looking for anything serious. Why? If I'm not looking for anything serious, why not continue dating the fool who I don't like/am incompatible with? That's their response.
SJC2008 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 It depends on the person and can mean a number of things. The last woman I dated had that designation too but the way her profile was worded it sounded like she was open to/looking for an R. In the end she was dating for attention/sex becuase she was still hurting over her ex. More often than not that designation is a cover for rebounding or casual sex IMO.
sillyanswer Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 If you are looking for something more than a hook up would you consider someone who has this as their "what are you looking for"? Depends what else it says in the profile. Sometimes people expand on what they are looking for. There's a range of things between just a hook up and a long term relationship that could still be "not serious". 1
Leigh 87 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 If they are not saying that due to being married, then if they met the right woman, they WOULD be interest in something serious. They just do not settle easily. Unless they really fall head over heals and fall in love. With the right women. They sound like they would rather date around and have fun. Because they are men and feel less inclination to have to have a committed, loving partner than us women (we tend to want that companionship more, on average, where as men of a certain age prefer to enjoy sex with many women, before settling down). Men who say that, they all have the capacity to find the right women. You just have to go into it thinking that it will most likely be a fun date, and they are not going to want to commit unless you're "the one" for them. If you are up for casual fun, go for it. At least these guys are honest. They do not want to string women along. Most men will change for the right women, though. Just don't date these types if you want something serious, and casual fun is not your thing.
