Interracial Dating

I am a hispanic man and I am dating a white woman who I have been with for a year and a couple of months. We lived in Maine for 4 months out of this year and now we are living in New York City. As a couple we had never experianced racism in Maine. When we moved to New York where I grew up It was a totally different story. We were expecting to be accepted here. Unfortanatley it didn't happen that way. My girlfriend has recieved so many dirty looks and attitudes from hispanic women and black women. My question is why? She posses no threat to them and Is not rascist in any way obviously and does not have an attitude. So to make it clear "Why do hispanic and black women give my white girlfriend dirty looks and attitude"

she's the outsider........per se. I wouldn't let it bother me if I were you. We girls do the same thing here.

 

If a guy from my race were to go out with *another kind* be it white, black, green or blue, it's not from MY race. Especially if it's one that is a *good/great catch*, the women are probably jealous, as we would be ... *What we weren't good enough that he had to find someone not from here.....not Hispanic.......not whatever*.............

 

It's a girl thang...........unless they say something verbally, walk with your head high, shoulders pulled back, and let her (your girlfriend) know how much you absolutely adore her

I live about 20 minutes from New York City and I am a Hispanic female and my boyfriend is White. (see our picture on the left) We have never encountered any kind of racism at all but I believe that's because of our genders. I think that the Hispanic and Black community are very protective of their own kind and almost take it as an offensive if you don't marry or date inside their community.

 

I played softball in a league once where it was a mixed crowd of people. I liked this Hispanic guy but ended up dating this white guy. When I was talking to the Hispanic guy one day, he told me that if he knew I liked him, he would have taken me out and he goes, "But now you're dating that WHITE guy." The way he said White was filled with resentment. I laughed it off as a joke, but he was being mostly serious.

 

I seriously think that's what it breaks down to... Protectiveness to their own kind. A lot of Hispanics in New York City have only been here for one or two generations or are fresh off the boat and still follow their Hispanic cultures which is very family oriented. I wouldn't take offense. Come out to Northern Jersey and you probably won't invoke as many stares.

we're mixed plate - sushi, all kinds here. But us girls wish the local guys would stay within our own but if not, of well.... so goes life. and we move on.........

ok this is the reason. most people in minority groups such a hispanic and blacks, have links in race like the african blood that attach them. so they feel more comfortable dating one or the other. now u bring a white girl, who is apart of a majority, not a minority into the mix and then they get upset, because they believe white people are greedy and always trying to own the country and they feel they need to have everything including there black and latino men. the majority of black and latino women dont like white men. but black and latino men like white women. the minority women feel they are not good enough for u. and this is where the conflicts happen. i noticed this when i hung out with my black friend and his latino girl friend. we would be watching t.v. and he would talk about how cute a white women was on t.v. and his girl would give him an evil look and say " you like those white girls". another incident happened right after to my black friend who happen to switch from a latina to a white women. he was well hated by the black and latino friends he had. **** happens
